A fun mix

This sari silk is really fun to use. I got the multicolor silk and I think the mix of colors was great. You get the whole rainbow plus a little bit of black and white. This is really fun to use in art yarn. You get a mix of really long threads as well as short threads too, so you can really mix up what you're doing with them. And if you're lucky, sometimes you even get small pieces that are still woven together, and are a really nice piece to put into your yarn!

These whimsical threads range in color and length providing you with beautiful rich texture for your projects whether you are hand spinning, blending, or felting. No two batches of sari silk threads are alike, the colors range widely and so do the textures. You will receive an assorted grouping of varying colors and textures.

Sari silk threads are the strands of silk that are cut from the looms used in the sari industry. These groupings range in micron and texture from course to cloudlike. Due to the nature of recycled manufacturing, some imperfections and debris might be present. The threads are not carded or processed into roving or batt form.

The History of the Sari

The sari has a long history in India, with the first depiction of saris in sculptures dating back to 100 B.C. The variety of colors, woven patterns, textures, and draping styles make the sari one of the world's most intricate and widely varied traditional garments. Today in India approximately six and a half million people are employed handweaving saris.
