The Majacraft Aura is unlike anything else in the shop. Handcrafted in New Zealand from native Rimu with a solid bamboo drive wheel, each one is individually numbered, assembled, and tested by hand before it leaves the workshop. It is not mass production. It is a small family operation doing one thing extraordinarily well, and it shows in every detail. The finish is immaculate. The action is quiet and smooth. In person, people stop and stare.

Developed in collaboration with spinner, teacher, and author Lexi Boeger, known widely as Pluckyfluff, the Aura was designed from the ground up to handle everything. The modified double drive system runs two completely independent drive bands, one polycord driving the flyer, one non-stretchy Dacron driving the bobbin. You tell this wheel what you want, and it listens.

The hybrid jumbo flyer carries that versatility through to the orifice. The delta holds fine and coiled yarns perfectly still while you work. When you are ready to spin big, bypass the delta entirely and feed straight through the large halo ring. From cobweb laceweight to the most heavily textured art yarn you can imagine, the Aura handles it without complaint and without changing a single setting.

The folding handle collapses for transport with bumpers to protect the spinning head. Light enough to carry to your favorite chair, substantial enough to know you are sitting in front of something serious.

Flyer Ratios

The Aura's three flyer ratios cover more ground than they might appear to at first glance. On a scotch tension wheel, the ratio does most of the work of controlling both twist and take-up together, which is why a wider ratio range is necessary. On the Aura, the bobbin drive handles take-up completely independently, so even the slowest flyer ratio can produce fine laceweight yarn by dialing the bobbin tension down to almost nothing and letting twist accumulate freely. You are not choosing from three speeds so much as three starting points, each with a full range of take-up adjustment built in.

Whorl Groove 1 Groove 2 Groove 3
Aura 4.1:1 5.4:1 7.3:1

The bobbin drive adds two additional groove positions plus infinite tension adjustment via the tension knob.
