Love the larger shed on this loom. I got the larger loom because I wanted to make towels on it. I just finished winding on 5 yards. I think it would easily hold 7 yards. Being larger it is heavier to move but I will still be able to fold and take places. It fits on a card table. It was tricky to dress at first because I’m not used to the raddle being on the top. I searched on internet on how to put on the warp. The body comes assembled but you have to put all the heddles, etc together. Took my husband and I a few hours to put together and the instructions that comes with it are pretty good.
I am enjoying this loom very much. It's quieter with the tex. heddles. It has a good-sized sweet spot for weaving before having to advance. I like the tensioning system--easy to advance the cloth. I like how the ****** swings away and is held by friction back close to the heddles--this helps to create that nice sweet spot for waeving. Being a table loom, I was able to mount it on an up/down table so I can weave sitting or standing--helps minimize my chronic pain issues and is easier on my back and neck. Nice compact size especially when folded. My only complaints, which are minor, are the fixed raddle--not my favorite--especiall if I was to use thicker yarns and I don't like that I can more easily manipulate fibers on it as you can with a more tradional raddle. I will probably make my own. The other issue, is that the wood strips on the harnesses gradually lostens from the plastic ends when weaving for a while. They haven't popped out though and I just squeeze them back together before starting each project--take about 30 seconds total.
I love this loom. There is plenty of room between the breast beam and the reed, so you don't have to advance your warp as often. Folds up easily, nicely engineered, but I would prefer that the harness uprights were made of something sturdier than plastic. I also feel that for the price of this loom, it should come more fully assembled. The harnesses all had to be completely put together (there are 8!), and all cording run and set up for each harness, and the directions are ok, but not as good as they should be. There is a video for this on YouTube as well, also helpful, but the whole thing is is fast speed mode. I had a lot of trouble assembling, had to take out cords and redo them, used the wrong cord for the wrong thing, etc. loom very sturdy, with the exception of the harness uprights, and I love the way the loom operates. Harness Levers smooth and noise free. Great product overall. There is a carry bag for purchase separately, rather expensive, but would be nice to have to keep loom protected while traveling.
