I've had one of these guys for a really long time and overall It's been a good wheel to learn on but it has this one particular problem that I find to be incredibly frustrating: the wheel is not securely aligned, so the drive band pops off every few minutes or so while I'm spinning and I have to stop to put it back on. I hate this spinning wheel so much.
Paradise Fibers had competitive pricing, very fast shipping, and great customer service. I was so pleased when my wheel arrived that my husband got me a rigid heddle loom as well so I can immerse myself in every fiber art possible. I will be using Paradise Fibers for years, they have truly great products. I have never used a spinning wheel before in my life, and I was very proud when I assembled my Kromski Prelude. I read reviews about it being a great starter wheel, and I am working on treadling in one direction these days. I look forward to getting to know it after the holidays, but it is an equisite, relatively small addition to my hobby room.
I have spun on my drop spindle, but this was my first spinning wheel. The assembly book was pretty good and had photos, I do wish they had updated videos on YouTube as the ones they have are ten years old, but I still watched those and they were so helpful. I got mine built and have enjoyed learning on it, It’s been great to learn on! It’s gorgeous, sturdy, and seems well constructed. My only thing is the twine brake band already broke, but I guess that’s not a big deal. I just replaced with some cotton yarn. Overall I’m a Kromski fan and can’t wait for another wheel!
I already own a Kromski Polonaise and am extremely pleased with the quality and design of this company’s wheels. I needed a smaller wheel I could travel with easily,so recently purchased the Prelude. The assembly was quick and easy. Once I got used to the single drive, I’ve enjoyed the wheel very much. It is a sturdy little machine that so far has performed excellently with both wool and angora. I’m looking forward to many years of spinning both at home and while traveling with the Prelude
