Recycled Multicolor Sari Silk Yarn from Nepal 100g 70yd 1st Grade

I love that these are recycled..

I love the bright colours, a little course, but mixed with a softer yarn ok. I am a new knitter, so my experience is novice. I also like the idea I am using fabrics that have been worn by people and we are recycling, and some of that karma from the people that wore thes sahris are continuing on!

It is a great price as I had bought this at a show and it was uch more expensive. The only problem is that the colors in the skeins I got have nothing to do with the picture on my screen. I got deep reds, orange, blue and some primary colors, but not the light , bright colors in the picture. It is pretty but not what I would have chosen.

I used this yarn to make a "scrap bag" of leftovers that were too small for any other project. It's the only yarn I bought expressly for the purpose of making the bag - everything else was scrap. It's fun to work with, but it's overspun so twists something fierce when you try to ball it. I used a rubber band to secure my ball while I unspun it so it was manageable. It's really fun to watch what colors come next, and my particular batch went from pastels to darks to brights. It's a bit rough on the hands, so I didn't sit with it for hours on end. Now I'm addicted, so I'm going to make a hat next.

I love your yarn. I'm using it to make purses and scarves to sell. I bought a similar product in Portland that not only cost more but wasn't as good of quality as the sari-silk yarn I purchased from you. Thank you.

I can't believe the beautiful combinations of color in each skein. It is not soft, a little coarse,but the colors make it worth using even in sweaters.

I just received my Sari Silk skeins and they are beautiful. They will make a wonderfully colorful and interestingly textured book or computor bag.

yarn of extraordinary beauty, gorgeous jewel tones all melting together. NOT for the timid or unadventurous knitter. You never know what's going to come out of your needles, but whatever it is, it will be breathtaking. My clients in Palm Beach eat up these garments faster than I can knit them.

Still not sure if I like this product. I saw it and liked the idea, but when I received it, I was dubious. As I rolled it into a ball, it felt coarse, and I found quite a few buts of straw in it. As I knitted it up into a scarf, it felt nicer, but the consistency of the yarn was poor. some places it was very thick and seemed to have not been spun, in others it was so thin that it looked more like sewing thread than yarn. I like the color variation within the skein, but it would be very hard to match up for anything large, without switching back and forth between skeins. I also think that as uneven as the fibers are, it will have to be hand washed and dried, somewhat less ideal then just tossing it in the washer and dryer.

Sari Silk is great for wet felting scarves. It stays where you put it, lays great in between wool and is easy to embellish with other fibers. You dont have to knit or crochet sari silk they are several more creative uses!

While the "cons" i marked may seem a little daunting, this yarn is well worth it! its a little hard to work with, gets caught up on things, hard to sew in the ends, etc. But the trouble was worth the beauty!

I did a lot of googling on sari silk before I made my purchase. I'm knitting a bag.Sari silk comes from the end loom threads when saris are woven. The silk looks like lots of little threads woven together. Some reviews had me questioning my purchase before it arrived, ie: smells terrible, very dirty (dust,twigs,toenails!),hard to work with. I was very pleased when it came. Very clean, does not pull apart,beautiful colors and easy to work with.I really like the thick,thin texture.It does smell funny,but just air out and enjoy. This is a quality product. Now I am designing my bag. Can't wait to start knitting!

I used this to weave a scarf, it had great body and the colors were great. This did not stripe or create color blotches when I wove with it.
