This Sari RIBBON Yarn is very unique for many crafting projects. It is made from cut strips of Sari Fabric and tied end to end. This is a great choice for wilder projects and embellishing but the possibilities are endless.
Recycled silk yarn is the by-product of colorful saris that women wear in South Asia. It is the loose ends of saris collected from industrial mills in India that is hand spun into yarn in Nepal. The vibrant colors and unique texture of these silk fibers and silk yarn are inspirational to designers, knitters, and artisans. The popularity of recycled silk yarn has extended beyond Nepal and India and has created an empowering cottage industry primarily benefiting women. This yarn is made of completely recycled Sari material from recycled clothing in nepal. It is as green a fiber as you can get, awesome!

We work with women's development groups in Nepal to produce this unique yarn and other hand knitted silk yarn products. Women make this yarn and various knitwear in their homes while not neglecting their other household chores. I purchased 2 skeins at the same time. Both are more lovely than I expected. One was solid jewel tones, bright colored plaids and patterned silk. The other was fall and neutral colors with sections of solids and patterned silk. I was happily surprised to see that the ends of each section were sewn together to create one continuous skein. It's almost to pretty to use.

The picture that you have of the recycled sari ribbon yarn showed two skeins...one a bright color and one a dark color. I thought I was getting the two colors - but alas, I only received one dark color when I would have prefered the bright one. No where on the site does it say "one" skein. I though this was a bit deceptive.

I am a jewelry maker, I'm using the sari ribbon to make necklaces and bracelets. I absolutely LOVE the multiple colors! I can't wait to see what I can do with it! It arrived really fast too! It's awesome.
