Cast on this cozy fall boot cuff and wrist warmer set and explore traditional Latvian knitting techniques. This set showcases the Latvian Knitted Fringe and was designed to highlight the beautiful long color changes of Urth Yarns.

The yarn in this bundle is spun from delightfully soft merino wool and is hand-dyed by artisans in Turkey. The self-striping yarn in the color options is Uneek Fingering, and the solid color is the naturally dyed Harvest Fingering. As with all of your Urth Yarns purchases, each skein will plant a tree with Trees for the Future.

From the Designer about this design: In Latvia the sun doesn’t go up and down, it goes around the sky. We are as far north as Juneau, Alaska. From the windows on the north side of my house, I can see both the sunrise and sunset in summer, but in winter I never see the sun at all. Things here turn with the sun or against the sun instead of clockwise and counterclockwise. When you go against the sun you clean out and release, going with the sun protects and holds in. Knitting in the round you knit with the sun. Knitting fringe you turn and knit against the sun. The perfect time to let go of whatever you are holding inside. Never think bad thoughts while knitting, then mistakes happen. What I do is breathe. Winding and knitting the fringe I breathe in deeply. As I pull my finger out I breathe out and let go of whatever needs to leave. It works. After the first row I no longer need to think about it, it just comes naturally and I am happier for it. These patterns were named after Jumis, a two-headed grain. It is a symbol of fertility and abundance. When you clear out the unnecessary, there is room for an abundance of goodness to enter.

Like all of Urth Yarn's hand-dyed masterpieces, every skein is unique! Also, every digital screen is calibrated differently. Slight variations in tone and saturation will vary from screen to screen. The actual color of your item may vary slightly from what you see on your screen.
