Spins like a dream

I love spinning this fiber. The silk content makes it very soft and the neps add lovely texture. The colors are a bit hard to discern on a computer screen, but I’ve come to expect that.

Product Details

A deliciously airy confection of resilient fibers whisked to sheer perfection.

Our unconventionally delightful twist on tweed combines the lustrous resilience of Superwash Blue Faced Leicester wool with the vibrant sheen of Silk; effortlessly highlighted with streaks of boisterous nepps and silky threads harvested from recycled saris from Nepal. We've added a touch of Faux Cashmere (stretched nylon) in order to elevate these luscious blends to a whole new level of luxury.

Our Sweetheart Tweed Rovings are inspired by the adorably clever wit and dreamy pastel color pallet of the classic conversation heart candies. These rovings practically spin themselves, offering exciting and pleasurable bits and bobs of texture and color as you spin your singles. If you're looking for a fiber that is great for beginner and experienced spinners alike and will hold your attention until the end, look no further. Your finished yarn will have irresistible loft and next to skin softness that boasts drape and extreme huggability.

Details:

  • 50% Superwash Blue Faced Leicester, undyed.
  • 40% Sari Silk, dyed.
  • 10% Faux Cashmere, undyed. (stretched nylon) The nylon is stretched to be very thin to mimic cashmere.
  • Carded Roving
  • Due to the nature of the superwash process, this roving does not felt easy. Ideal for hand spinning into yarn or weaving into chunky wall tapestries.
  • Overdye these rovings to produce interesting results.

Did you know? Tweed is historically known as various shades of wool nepps or noils blended into a solid color of wool. The nepps and noils are leftover from the carding process and are what give texture and interest to the finished yarn/roving. The silk blended into our Sweetheart Tweed has naturally occurring nepps and noils from the carding process. Recycled Sari Silk is produced from leftover mill ends of the Sari Industry in India. Our Tweed is slightly unconventional; combining wool, silk, and nylon to create a roving suitable for lofty yarn with a slight sheen, drape, and memory.

Collect all 8 shades found in our Sweetheart Tweed Collection. Create mini-skeins for colorwork projects, ply two colors together, or spin them along for a truly unique and beautiful yarn suited for warm and cozy knit and crochet garments.
