Rustic and natural! These limited-edition Spoiled Sheep fibers are sourced locally from individual sheep at Rose Butte Ranch near Spokane, Washington. After each yearly sheering, the fleeces take a short drive to the Fibers First Mill in Post Falls, Idaho to be cleaned and processed into natural lanolin-rich carded and pin drafted wool rovings. Each fiber is produced from a single sheep and is full of robust and lofty character. You'll love the unique texture of each wool and the incredible insulative warmth they provide in a finished garment. The pin drafted rovings are excellent for beginner spinners to learn with and experienced spinners to enjoy because they require less drafting and are easier to handle compared to commercially processed tops. Perfect for creating lofty and rustic woolen yarns. The fibers have a lovely crimp and vary in length and diameter, with some nepps present from machine processing. Natural wool fibers are excellent for use in hand spinning, weaving, felting, knitting, and crochet projects.
"Why is our flock Spoiled? We shear the flock every year at the beginning of summer, for their greatest comfort during both the hot and cold seasons of the year. They enjoy full access to pasture year-round and are fed alfalfa hay grown in our own field during the winter. Fresh spring water flows freely into their trough, ensuring a constant supply of clean water. Their barn is cooled with a misting system and fan during the heat of the summer, and in winter is warmly bedded with straw. Treats from the garden are always a big hit. Last but certainly not least, they are guarded around the clock by our loving and dedicated Livestock Guardian Dog team. It's a good life for our sheep - and we think it shows in the beauty and quality of our yarn and fibers." - Spoiled Sheep Yarn
