This is a manufactured product made from recycled plastic bottles. The concept is good, so I thought I’d try it. I had also been very impressed with a similar product, poly quilt batting also made from recycled plastic bottles. The fiber is a little tricky to use. It has a short staple length. It is, however, very soft, and when mixed with other fibers, drafts beautifully for spinning. I used it in a blend, 75% Navajo Churro/25% Eco Spun poly fiber, blended it thoroughly on my drum carder. It was fabulous to spin. It gave the finished yarn a really nice sheen. Just beautiful. It does have a few drawbacks. It does not take dyes well, at least no dyes I have used on wools. Even Natural dyes were poor. I got the best, most even color results from dyeing my wool, then blending with the Eco Spun fiber. The Eco Spun is bright white, so lightens whatever wool color I start with, but the results are quite amazing. I am a weaver, and I spin most of my weft yarns, so this extra time spent in prep for spinning was not bad, and I Love the way it spins. It makes every wool fiber draft easier and smoother. I would buy this product again. It is inexpensive, and keeps a little plastic out of the landfill.

This fiber is incredibly unique and has a surprisingly soft hand! dye it up and use it on your next project or spin as-is for a one-of-a-kind yarn!
