A non-specific breed. Falkland refers to all wool grown on the Falkland Islands off the coast of Argentina. Romney, Corriedale, and Polwarth are the main breeds of sheep found on these islands. The Falklands wool growers carefully manage their flocks so that they produce fine, high-quality fibers with low amounts of vegetable matter. The sheep on this island do not go through chemical dipping to control pests as sheep diseases are not known to exist there. This wool meets natural organic standards. This is marvelous fiber with an incredible handle that spins and dyes with ease. Suitable for many projects including weaving and felting. With a micron count that's between 20-30 and a 3-5 inch staple length.
