A favorite of new spinners and spinning teachers, Corriedale has a lovely hand, and it is easy to draft. Considered a medium wool, the Corriedale sheep is the result of breeding the Merino with longwool breeds to create a sheep that produces a large uniform fleece, good crimp, and good-sized staple length—merging some of the characteristics of fine and longwools. It is suitable for a wide range of projects including shawls, socks, sweaters, scarves, and other accessories.
Corriedale is a great fiber for needle and wet felting.
Louet's Corriedale comes in 20 colors.
½ pound put-up; top (combed); 28 microns; 4''–6'' (10–15 cm) fiber length.
