A plain black (pepper is what Brown Sheep calls their black and it took me a while to figure that out!) sport weight yarn is what I've been using for the warp on my rigid heddle loom for so many bulky yarns and this one works up beautifully. I have a 16" loom and have generally been warping at a length of about 70" with a 7.5 reed: I want to say I got about 4 full warps out of the cone. It holds up beautifully. I'm on my second cone of it now.
Beautiful, bouncy yarn. Love weaving with this,
This was the first cone of wool yarn I had ever bought, though not the first Brown Sheep wool yarn ever. I always bought wool in skeins before. Comparing brown sheep yarn on a cone to brown sheep yarn in skeins, I much prefer the skeins. The texture of the wool is less even and more stretched out on the cone, and the cone wool loses some of its 'fluffiness' that makes it a pleasure to knit with. I'll continue to buy Brown Sheep yarn because I like it and it is a good value, but I'll buy skeins rather than cones. If I was weaving instead of knitting, I might feel differently.
I love Naturespun yarn! It's soft, the colours are beautiful and rich, and the price is great. I am both a hand and machine knitter, so the cones are ideal for me. Having the colour card at home helps immensely, but the photos on this website are also very good.

Brown Sheep Yarns are permanently moth proofed using a non-insecticide; from their FAQ:
We use a non-insecticide chemical called Ecolan CEA to moth proof our wool. It is added to the dye bath at the same time as the dyes and is “permanent” in the sense that it will not wash, rub, or dry clean off the wool. The treatment works as an insect resist agent by making the wool protein unpalatable to the wool moth larvae.
