The Beaubourg Shawl is a magnificent wrap using 4 skeins each of our hand-dyed Urth Yarns Uneek (MC) and Monokrom Worsted Yarns (CC). Designed by the talented Julie Knits in Paris, this shawl uses approximately 1700 yards of Uneek self-striping colors paired with the luscious tonal Monokrom to create a colorful shawl with depth and character that is 100% machine washable. Grab your US 7 needles to cast on and knit your shawl inspired by the Beaubourg Museum of Contemporary Art in Paris.
To chose colors: Pick your Main Color in the first group of selections, this is the multi-colored Uneek skein on the right. The Contrasting Colors in Monokrom currently available with be highlighted in the second group labeled, Contrasting Color. As you click on the circle the presented photo will change.
Note from the designer: “When Urth Yarns asked me to be part of their Knitters of the World programme, I loved the idea of designing knitwear inspired by my geographical identity. Beaubourg is a Museum of contemporary art in Paris. Some will tell you it is an eyesore, but I am partial to this colourful building in the very heart of grey Paris. Beaubourg is a large rectangular wrap that features two-colour brioche and slipped stitches against a background of garter stitch to represent the colourful pipes that run up the façade of the museum.” - Julie Dubreux / Julie Knits in Paris
When you choose Urth Yarns you are supporting a workforce of strong women who hand-dye their yarns in Mersin and Istanbul. Each Urth Yarns skein purchased plants a tree as part of the #knitoneplantone movement. This 8 skein kit plants 8 trees! Join us in helping Trees for the Future in their mission to provide families with tools and knowledge to plant trees in Africa.
"Planting trees provides families with more than just food. It provides income, empowerment, unity, leadership, education and even saves lives. When we can teach people to value themselves and their environment, they see amazing improvements in their standard of living."
