Bleached Tussah Silk

The sale price of this silk fiber was too tempting to pass, so I got it with plans to blend it with wool fiber to spin my own yarn. Thanks for the sale offer !

Product Details

This luxury fibre has a beautiful natural shine and it is very durable. Tussah silk is produced by tussah silkworms and is usually a beautiful natural golden colour but can vary from pale cream to a dark rich brown. Tussah silkmoth caterpillars eat oak leaves or other leaves rich in tannin and it is the tannin that gives the colour to this silk. This is wild silk and used to create a more textured silk yarn. Use in Blends to add a textured dimension with sheen. Dye to create brilliant colorways. This fiber has a long staple length and a fine micron count.
