These are a great option for led $$$. Perfect for a rigid heddles loom!
I purchased 2 of these when I bought my rigid heddle loom. They are not as smooth as the more expensive wooden shuttles, but they work well for learning without investing a lot of money.
It is fun to use.
I wanted to give boat shuttles a try, but didn't want to risk purchasing an expensive wooden one without knowing if I'd enjoy using it. I bought one of these plastic ones and I absolutely love it! I can place my weft more smoothly now with no edge tugging. I assumed the plastic shuttle would feel cheap and clunky but it feels very sturdy. I immediately bought extra bobbins to make color changes easier. My only complaint is that there was some extra bits of plastic waste around the seams as well as around the opening where the bobbin goes in, which would have caught on my yarn. Luckily it only took my husband a few minutes to sand away the bit around the seams and used a blade to cut away the waste around the opening.
I picked this up so my daughter could use it with our Schacht flip loom. The price cannot be beat for a child's weaving projects as it is a super affordable way to try out boat shuttles with weaving. I own regular Schacht wood boat shuttles as well as the slim model and this one works just as well as the more expensive ones. I do wish that the Schacht bobbins were compatible with this boat (they are a tiny bit too long) but that's barely an issue. I can fill the bobbins for this shuttle on our Schacht bobbin winder just fine as well. If your wondering if it is compatible with a Schacht flip or similar loom rest assured. We also own a Cricket now but I have not tried this shuttle with that one however I suspect it will be a bit of a squeeze to get in between the upper and lower warp threads on that one. I will try to come back and update this review with photos.
