Paradise Fibers Paradise Fibers Polwarth Silk Fiber - 75/25 Review

I recommend this product

A luxurious spin

As a new spinner, I have only spun wool (Corriedale and Merino). This is my first time spinning with a fiber blend. The silk content was just enough that it wasn't difficult for me to spin as it likely would have been if it had been pure silk. It was slippery enough that I chose to spin from the fold, and it was the right choice for me. Not only was the spinning experience thoroughly enjoyable, I am so pleased with the final product. I will definitely be purchasing this blend again.

Polwarth Wool, Silk Blend -  75/25

The Polwarth sheep was developed in Australia by breeding Merino rams to Lincoln/Merino ewes so the foundation stock is 75% Merino/25% Lincoln

The Polwarth breed was developed to make a dual purpose sheep with a finer wool that would contribute a more significant portion of the ranchers income.

Range

Australia, New Zealand, Falkland Islands, South America.

Sheep Characteristics

They are a hearty breed of sheep that can be found in climates that are considered too wet or cold for Merino sheep. The Polwarth breed has both polled and horned sheep. The most common is the polled. They are a large sheep with a high yielding fleece (between 8 – 13 lb fleeces)

Wool Characteristics

Polwarth fiber has a longer staple length from it’s Lincoln DNA. Easier to spin with longer staple length. Micron count between 22-25. Definitely next to skin softness. Noted for its elasticity, durability it is still considered a delicate fiber with bounce and drape

This wonderful fiber has been blended with the beauty of Tussah Silk to create a luxurious wearable wool with a subtle sheen.

Also Dyes Beautifully.

The silk in this blend gives it strength, plus a luster you will fall in love with!
