Easily ply yarn and wind skeins with the Vertical Upright Lazy Kate from Ashford. Made from beautiful silver beech hard wood and holds 3 bobbins.
Bobbins not included.
I am glad I caved and bought this. I had a mishap with a silk brick that should have stayed on the bobbin and knit off the bobbin. The problem was holding the bobbin for easy dispensing while knitting. I spun up 2 wool silk blend singles, left them on the bobbins, and placed them on this kate for 2plying. Oh what a difference! Before I had to ball winder off each single and use bowls or large yogurt containers to ply more than 2 singles. Now I can go up to 5 because my wheel has 2 built in! This also sits right nice in my project bag (about the same as a reusable walmart bag and a small laptop carry-on backpack) so I can leave my plied yarn on the bobbins without fuss of making a ball, knit off the bobbin without worry of a snarled mess of a hank, and its portable. I also tried wheel spun singles and plied with a spindle.... oooh man was that NICE! I even took this with me to a family reunion on the 1st of August; sat nicely on the table, pattern tucked under the front edge, and 'what people sitting next to me?' lost in knitting I went. Realized the whole table was watching and chatting when I ran out of 1 bobbin of yarn. #2 easily attached the work and people disappeared again. ;) If you can't afford luxury, this is the next best thing if you suffered with less 'make do' options.
