Cheviot Wool top in a beautiful natural white color.  Helical crimp - 3 dimensional structures that gives the wool resilience and bounce.  The micron count is between 27-33 and this fiber has a 4-5 inch staple length.  The wool top is open without being slippery making it an excellent wool for beginning spinners.  The yarn produced from Cheviot wool is a pleasure to knit, crochet and weave with.

HISTORY:

Cheviot sheep originated in the Cheviot Hills on the border of England and Scotland.  They were referred to as the Border Cheviot and are the foundation stock for the Brecknock and the North Country Cheviots.  This hardy breed can withstand harsh environments and are known for being great mothers.  Cheviot tweeds are a traditional woven fabric, famous for their crispness and durability, making it a popular suiting material for both men and women.

The very best for needle felting

I adore this wool! I do needle felting and have tried quite a few different types to see which one suits best. THIS IS IT. Wow - this stuff can take shapes and hold them without having to hard-felt it. It's silky to touch - and takes shape quickly. I felt against a large foam block so I can do large pieces and Cheviot is my wool of choice. I use acid dyes and it takes color very well. I have only started spinning with a drop spindle, and I also like the feeling of this wool as yarn. It's a nice multi-purpose wool with a very reasonable price.

Amazing Fiber!

I love this fiber! It is very easy to spin and it makes a beautiful yarn. This is now one of my favorite breeds of wool to spin!

Great for beginner spinners!

I'm sadly out of practice, so bought one pound of this undyed wool to practice on. Turns out it was an excellent choice! Very forgiving for fumble-thumbs

Perfect for spinners

I was first introduced to this in a Fiber of the Month box and fell in love. It was a dream to spin; better than almost any other fiber I've spun. I died it with food coloring and used it as part of a hap I'm knitting. I made a vow to spin this whenever I can. I don't want to use any other fiber.
