Soft and Silky 85% Paradise Fibers 23 Micron Solid Colored Combed Merino Wool Top blended with 15% dyed bamboo top to create a multi-color blend.
Aptly named after everyone's favorite childhood nursery rhymes and characters.
These enchanted rovings will breathe life into any spinning, felting, or blending project. Since the blend consists mainly of wool it will needle/wet felt with ease. With a long staple length of 3-6 inches the vibrant multi colors create a gorgeous heathered yarn when spun fine. Perfect for next to skin wear. Bamboo spins similarly to silk and adds beautiful luster to the yarn. The merino adds softness and durability for garments that will last for years to come! Try them out for yourself. Your imagination is your limit!
Please Note: Colors may vary slightly from batch to batch due to the nature of natural fiber. We have taken every step to represent the colors correctly. Colors can change depending on your screen settings.
I have spun this on a drop spindle and it produces an gorgeous, soft yarn. The Higglety Pigglety colorway spins up to a retro-ish orange with lime and other citrus hints that reminds me of my grammy's couch back in the 70s. The Humpty Dumpty comes out a comfy, dusty mauvey-purpleish-pink.
Easy drafting, makes a beautiful singles. I plan to ply it when I get around to it, and use it for warp.
This fiber was a dream to spin. So easy and the ten came out silky soft and beautiful. Can't wait to knit it up.
I have been spinning the Humpty Dumpty colorway this past two weeks. I have approximately 6 ounces spun, and I'm ready to evaluate this shipment. As mentioned by another reviewer, this spins up as a color I've always thought of as Antique Mauve, thanks to a DMC floss color of nearly the same shade and name. As always, the shipping was quick, which I very much appreciate. Overall, the top is easy to draft and spins well. However, there are a few caveats. There are periodic clumps of disorganized fiber throughout the package of roving I was sent. I have to remove these from the roving before spinning. Additionally, the pink and blue areas of fiber are troubled by a surprising number of noils that need to be removed for worsted spinning. Finally is the problem I had not intended to mention until it happened a second time. There is foreign matter in the top, specifically I have found to long pieces of plastic (which appear to come from a plastic bag of some sort) combed into the top. I noticed the first one right away and removed it, thinking it was a rather strange thing to find in top. I was spinning distracted the second time and actually got some of it spun into my yarn before the "something is wrong here" notice from my fingers made an impression on the forefront of my brain. I was forced to break my single, remove the affected section, and rejoin the fiber to continue spinning. Perhaps someone should have a word with the supplier about their QA measures being insufficient. These problems take this lovely soft top from an easy 5 star rating down to a 3 star, when all are considered together.
Love the fiber, the color and the touch! Paradise Fibers has great products and excellent service!
