Paradise Fibers Standard DOUBLE ROW Wool Hand Combs Set

I love my hand combs! They have proved to be very versatile and the cherry wood is beautiful. I especially like the shape of the handles--I don't have to grip as tightly to keep them from slipping out of my hand. I recommend them!

These combs are indeed super sharp and dangerous if you don't know how to use them. I got a few scratches when I first tried, and I put them away for a few months. THEN I took a class on fiber prep and learned how to gently comb locks without hurting myself, the fiber, or the combs! I absolutely love combing with them now, and they have worked beautifully on shetland, romney, and various longwools. The tines are quite strong and have not bent despite my clumsy early efforts and the strong, slightly cotted Gotland locks I've used on them.

I am excited to try these. I have been looking for a good set of combs and these come recommended to me. I hear they are easy to hold and have nice tines in double rows. . . something I have had a hard time finding!

I've never used wool combs before, so I'm learning something new. I'm using the hand combs to comb some corriedale fiber and they seem to be working well. The video on your web page helped me. I didn't do a lot of research on which combs to use with which fiber (didn't realize that combs come in more than one size), and suggest that this be covered in your video. Thanks.

These combs can be dangerous as they are very sharp and take practice to learn to use. But after combing two fleeces, I don't have to send my wool off for carding! A lightweight glove or a bandaid on the finger helps keep the "nicks" from the comb teeth to a minimum. Also tones the muscles in your arms and "chest".

I'm just beginning to learn about processing wool. We have a herd of woolies and hair sheep and am anxious for the shearing of the woolies to begin so I can experiment with the fibers.

I recently went to a fiber fair and was able to thoroughly examine other wool combs made by different companies. My Paradise Fibers combs have much sturdier tines and are more comfortable in my hands. I would not trade them for the world.

These are the first combs I've used that belong to me, and I have to say that I process fleeces only on a very small scale (maybe three a year). That said, I have quickly grown used to the weight and size of the combs in my hands and prefer them to any combs I've used before (mostly large, unwieldy things whose points are too long to use by hand or which MUST be kept at a table).

I've been warned by local spinners about buying combs over the internet, and then they turn out to be flimsy or cheaply made: these are nicely made, comfortable and sturdy tools that I like even to look at as well as to use.

I am glad I took the chance at a pair of combs instead of carders because of how finely the product turns out with just these. Already I have used them with alpaca and llama fleeces and the fluffy, clean fiber comes out delightfully. My first full bobbin of combed fleece came out so much better than the stuff I had only washed and spun from the lock (or whatever it is called on an alpaca).

The only thing I worry about is that they have no case, so I'm thinking about felting one out of the wool that was left on the combs:)

I received one of the first pairs of combs that Bill made. I've enjoyed using them, especially after I figured out HOW to use them properly. They truly do make short work of otherwise arduous labor. Please, Bill, develop a box or bag for storage and transportation. I really enjoy these, but fear for someone's (mine?) life if I forget to put them away properly.

I would like to see these sold with some sort of sleeve. A heavy leather would be good. I will be looking at thrift stores for a leather purse that would be just right to store them in for safe keeping when not in use and for carrying along.
Also i am now ordering the screw/holder. I'm just learning, but i don't think they can be used properly without one being stationary. They are beautiful and feel like they will last several lifetimes. I got these in maple.

Due to shoulder problems, I had to sell my heavy 5-pitch combs and take a long break from combing. After a long (undesired) respite, I decided to look into other options. I researched and shopped around on the internet, finally settling on the double row combs from Paradise Fibers. I admit, I was concerned that the 2-pitch combs would not do as good a job as the 5-pitch. I was wrong! These combs are awesome! They are lightweight, and pass through the fiber like butter! *Great* for someone with shoulder problems. They handle both short and long-stapled wool with ease. I am VERY happy! Thank you, Paradise Fibers, for making excellent combs! I am now happily combing wool again! Yay!

I purchased a set of these to replace my old giant combs that were wearing me out. I can't say enough about these-they're light, the handles are comfortable, and they're even kind of pretty. I can comb for hours without needing to give my shoulders a break. The top I'm getting off my combs is smooth, clean, and wonderful to spin, I'd recommend these combs to anyone processing fleeces by hand.

Received my combs just an hour ago and quickly grabbed a hand full of fleece to try them out. I think they are great . . just as advertised. Bill, your video was very instructional as well. And thank you for getting them to me so quickly.
