I'm a beginning spinner without any local help - but have worked with fiber for 40 years or so. I like the Shuksan very much. It's light, spins nicely, and DOES have a notch. The Cascade spindles are very pretty, but they spend all their documentation efforts being elegantly descriptive, and no time or effort providing useful data. It took a call to Paradise Fibers to find out any real facts about this spindle, and the person I spoke with was very helpful. The spindle arrived well packed, with tag - which again provided no useful information, just more travelogue fluff.

This is a nice spindle, that when I get better will spin lovely laceweight yarn. (Not the "art yarn" currently in residence.) I'm not sure how much "capacity" it has, because a.) I'm not sure how much BFL yarn I actually have on it right now, but b.) it is spinning "differently" now, in a way I don't like, so I think maybe I better wind off. I sure wouldn't use this spindle for plying!
