Schacht SIDEKICK Spinning Wheel SK7770

I love the modern look for this wheel. Very attractive to my taste. It took me a while to get used to pedaling this, yes, it feels more like pedaling a bike to me. I actually feel it working my thighs! Spinning and working out at the same time! :) Very strong pull and fast spinning.

I'm currently in the market for a new spinning wheel. The owner at my LYS convinced me to take it home for a week for a test drive. I wasn't convinced that it would be a wheel that I would really like....but I'm going to have to eat my words! This wheel is FUN, portable and made me into a spinning fiend. Up until this point I've only been able to spin worsted weight or heavier yarn on my OLD Louet. Within 2 minutes on this machine I'm spinning something that will be fine enough for a lace weight shawl. Truly remarkable!

The only Cons that I have, is that I wish the wheel wasn't made of composite material. I much prefer the look of real hardwood. Also, since I'm a very tall woman, (5' 11") the orifice is a little low for my comfort.

All in all this wheel is a great piece of equipment and worth every penny.

I purchased this wheel, my third wheel to be my "true" travel wheel. I already bought a Schacht Reeves 24" wheel, plus an Aura by Majacraft. Both of these wheels are great at what they are meant for, however neither are traveling wheels. I wanted a wheel that not only traveled and was light but also, one that wasn't requiring tons of adjustments like my other two did when I move them. This is why I love my Sidewinder! Plus, it's a true solid spinner, very easy to spin on. I also would highly recommend this wheel to anybody beginning to spin on a wheel. It's very easy to use and uses minimal adjustments. That and it's really light weight, easy to throw the strap over my shoulder and go! I love it, and another point, the design is really very cool. There isn't another wheel on the market like it. A winner to me.

I got this wheel in March and it really does spin like a dream! This is the third wheel that I've owned and I love the schacht brand and love love this wheel!

I was convinced I didn't even want to LOOK at the Sidekick but was "forced" to use one during my spinning lessons. It was love at first treadle. Easy to set up even for a beginner, tucks into the smallest of spaces and spins like a dream.

I wasn't extremely interested putting down my spindles for a wheel until I saw this one - as an engineer, the concept for this one made sense to me. It did not disappoint!
The wheel is definitely very portable and I love having the carry strap. It is slim enough that it fits behind my seat in my car as well as in the trunk. It also takes up little space in my home, which was an important factor. The bobbin I'm using stores right on the wheel when folded and that there is a convienent place for the orafice hook when spinning. To top it all off, the drive wheel is a lovely teal and many of the parts are actual bicycle components.
It is my very first wheel, but it was easy for me to quickly put it together and and start spinning. It is smooth, quiet, and (suprisingly) very stable. Though I would prefer a slightly taller orafice height, it isn't at all uncomfortable and it helps that the wheel orientation allows me to sit closer if I want to spin in a small space or to move around to reduce fatigue.
My complaints would be that there isn't a good place to store the orafice hook when traveling (without it slipping off). There is also no place to put a bottle lubricating oil. I also find that the flyer attachment points come loose or require repositioning and you have to have the allen wrench or screwdriver to adjust this. The fix is to make a little pouch to carry these four items. I also find that the parts are sometimes a bit hard to move when I'm folding or unfolding the wheel, but this shows that the tolerances were good and tight.
Overall, I absolutely love this wheel. It doesn't quite beat my spindles for portability, but it comes very close with the added advantages of speed, comfort and fun!

This is a true travel wheel... The folding is not as easy as some wheels, but truly only takes an extra thirty seconds. The range of what you can do is amazing!

Just received my wheel, have it all ready to go and can hardly wait - smooth treadling, very easy to handle.

I thought that when I ordered my Sidekick that it would be a wonderful little wheel to take on the road with me. Now that I have it, I prefer spinning with it over my Minstrel. It is so smooth and easy to use. I'm thrilled with this wonderful, portable, easy to use spinning wheel.
