Schacht Ladybug Spinning Wheel LB6601

Took the wheel for a little test drive at a fiber show and fell in love. The wheel is meeting all my spinning needs with the medium and fast whorls that came with the wheel. I can easily go between fine lace weight to sports weight (the thickest I'm willing to spin), without struggling to get the settings just right. I'm sure the optional whorls would just add to the range of yarns I could make. Treadling is comfortable and easy, and the orifice sits at the perfect height for me. It's also fairly light weight so moving it from one room in my home to the next isn't tedious, which is really nice. But what I like the most is that it's compact. Space is limited for us right now, and my little 'Bug fits perfectly into the little room we have available.
I highly recommend this wheel for people that are just starting out on a wheel, but who don't want to out grow it quickly.

I had no access to a place to test wheels, so I spent hours online poring over various reviews, checking price points, and trying to find something that would help me make the jump from spindling to wheel spinning. I ultimately settled on the Ladybug as having an excellent cost to capabilities level. I ordered it on sale and grabbed the high speed whorl and flyer, lazy kate, extra bobbins--the works!

It was a gamble that has really paid off. It required minimal setup out of the box, and I was spinning in under an hour (it required far less setup time, but I wanted to read the manual and make certain that, as a wheel-spinning novice, I didn't harm my new investment). 4 years later, my Ladybug is still going strong. I thought by now I'd have moved on to a Matchless, but the Ladybug is here to stay!

This is the second wheel I purchased. I had done a lot of internet research before ordering this wheel as I do not have anywhere local to look at or try wheels. The wheel is very study, efficient, adorable, and a work horse! It have been able to spin anything from art yarn to fine lace singles. I think that I will have a lot of room to grow with this wheel. Worth even more than it cost. Assembly is very easy as well.

I love my Lady Bug Spinning Wheel. I consider myself a novice spinner and self-taught. I am still discovering wonderful things about this wheel like the fact that I can change it to double drive (I think that is what it is called), which I have not attempted to do so yet. It is true, that the wheel is silent as she spins. When I first got my wheel, I had no idea I was supposed to oil some of the parts, so I found that as I started spinning with time, it got a bit harder to treadle. At first I thought it was my lack of knowledge in spinning but I contacted the company, by the way, they are great people, and was told what to do and voila, she's very smooth and easy to treadle now. Purchased my oil and every so often give her a cleaning and reoiling when necessary (which is hardly ever)!

My only issue is that the orifice sits low, but I think many wheels' orifices sit low.

I have purchased the jumbo flyer for lofty yarns and its a breeze to switch back/forth to regular flyer.

I did purchase the lazy kate attachment and the extra bobbins, but have had trouble with it. It does not sit properly/evenly and the bobbins come off when trying to ply. If I screw the screws tightly so that the bobbins stay on the rod, then they don't move smoothly for plying. I've given up.

Outside of that little glitch, the wheel is WONDERFUL!!! And yes, I would recommend this wheel to others.

My husband recently purchased this spinning wheel for me. I put it together (mainly getting the paddles on it) and even managed to spin a bit of alpaca fiber!! Having never used a spinning wheel before, I thought this was a wonderful thing to be able to do right away!

I've owned this wheel for over 2 1/2 years and it just gets better with age. Super easy to treadle, great control over spinning with so many whorl options, and it's as cute as a bug!

This is a very nice wheel for the beginner or professional. It's portable, colorful, and easy to use. Everything is there - with the exception of the Lazy Kate. Unfortunately you have to purchase it separately, as well as the fourth bobbin.

When I was bitten by the spinning bug I took my time researching wheels. I decided on the Ladybug and couldn't be happier. I love the flexibility of the wheel, I have many ratios and tensions to choose from. I love the nice big treadles, plenty of room for my large feet! The wheel spins easily and quietly. I am sure I will own this wheel for a long time and don't see myself outgrowing it anytime soon.

I originally bought the Ladybug because I didn't want to make the big investment of buying a Matchless when I was a beginner spinner, and I figured that I would buy a Matchless in the future if spinning was something I still enjoyed. After spinning on my Ladybug for a few years, I can't imagine giving it up for a Matchless! It's WONDERFUL to spin on, and very easy to travel with- I take it to knitting group every week! I felt like I quickly "outgrew" my old wheel as I learned to spin better, but I know my Ladybug is going to be with me forever!

The Schacht Ladybug is cute, lightweight, and highly functional. It gets my vote.

I have spun every weight of yarn imaginable on this wheel from super laceweight to heavy bulky yarns. The wheel comes with 2 whorls, but I bought the additional whorls, as well as the not officially recommended super high speed whorl (use the tensioner with this, and it spins great).

Even at the highest speeds, the wheel spins smoothly, and treadles easily. Wide treadles and adjustable feet mean that even the pickiest spinner can find a comfortable position, and with 3 handles placed in strategic positions, I have been able to carry both this and my baby's carseat, not to mention all the things that go with each.

The wheel is neither the lightest nor the most compact of wheels, but it travels easily buckled into any spare seat in the car, or stuck in the trunk.

Overall, this is an excellent wheel, and will be my primary wheel for a very long time to come.

I got my ladybug in the mail last week, and I can't tell you how much I love it! It spins so smoothly and so effortlessly. I also appreciate (x1,000) that the wheel came already assembled and I didn't have to put anything together or wait that much longer to start spinning. Thank you!

I dont own this wheel.However this is definitely going into my collection when funds allow it.I have spents hours upon hours spinning on this wheel in paradise's spinning room and i love it.The big raindrop pedals are easy to maneuver and i just love spinning on it.I love the matchless also, however if that is out of your budget the ladybug is a good choice.It looks nice.it spins great.very user friendly and VERY light to pick up.
