I have a Joy wheel that I absolutely love! It spins like a dream. The Joy is very quiet and smooth when spinning. The other advantage of this wheel is that it's light and portable. I love this wheel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wheel and/or a portable wheel. It is a bit more expensive than some wheels but definitely worth the price!

This is the first wheel I ever tried when a lady at my knitting group offered to teach me. Ignoring the fact that it was a complete disaster because I didn't know what I was doing, the Ashford Joy is a great little wheel. I tried it again when I was better at spinning and actually enjoyed it. The treadles move smoothly, and starting and stopping the wheel with just your feet isn't very hard. The build in lazy kate is very convenient even if you never travel. My only problem was the orifice height. Since it's so small, I was stooped over quite a bit which started bothering my lower back. If it was taller it would be perfect.

As one who prefers to spin sport weight and finer, I find the Ashford Joy to be perfect for travel and home use! Small space? The Joy may well be your answer.

Out of the box, just adjust the tension, add a leader and you're off!

The Ashford Joy was my first wheel, and I love it to pieces! It folds up really nicely, which makes it super easy to take it to spin-ins and on trips with you. Besides being easy to travel with, the Joy is a great wheel to spin with for both beginners AND intermediate spinners (I wouldn't recommend it for advanced spinners, because I feel that there aren't enough ratios). My only problem with the Joy is that sometimes the drive band slips off the notches on the wheel, making it hard to use ALL the ratios.

I've been spinning for 30 years. I just bought the Ashford Joy so I'd have a portable wheel. I bought the single treadle option. The new flyer and spool holds twice as much spun yarn as my other two spinning wheels. The height of the wheel is perfect for me, I'm 5'5". It is so smooth and quiet, it may become my premier wheel.

I started spinning only a year and 3 months ago & am already the "most prolific" spinner/knitter/weaver in my little spinning group! All, thanks to the Ashford Joy. I started out all thumbs & lots of big-fat "interesting" yarns, but now spinning is my rescue after a tough day in the classroom at the inner-city urban high school I work at. I have learned so much about fibers. If you're a knitter or weaver & want to produce fab fibers, start spinning with the Joy. The world of fiber awaits. I've added the supersized Ashford bobbin/flyer to my kit & ply lots & lots of lovely yarns.

I own a single treadle Joy. I have loved it ever since I brought it home. It is a wonderful travel wheel and now is my only wheel. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Ashford makes great products.

My dear husband gave me the Ashford Joy (single treadle) as a Christmas gift two years ago. I had never spun before, but learning on this wheel was a breeze (okay, after 2 hours of stern concentration and furrowed eyebrows). The design is well thought out, compact, and extremely easy to pop in the car, carry to meeting with friends or on vacation, or even just move around the house to be wherever the family is gathered. I have been able to spin bulky to laceweight yarn beautifully on this wheel, for it has four drive ratios. The bobbin size is perfect for me, creating about a 1 oz. skein of yarn when double plied. I would suggest the Joy to any spinner who likes the convenience of a compact, easy to transport design, as well as flexibility in the ability to create yarns of most thicknesses.
