Kromski Harp Great Loom Review by Beverly

This is my first rigid heddle loom and I made a beautiful Alpaca scarf. Weavers at my club couldn't believe it was made on a 16" rigid heddle loom.

A versatile starting loom Review by Patricia

I purchased a Kromski 24" Harp loom from Paradise just before Christmas and have already made two projects -- my first weaving projects of any time. The Kromski was easy to assemble using the included directions, and everything was well-made and fit well together. The instructions included a URL to some videos made by the US Kromski dealer on how to attach the cords; this was very helpful.

The loom did not come with detailed instructions on weaving, but the Craftsy rigid heddle weaving class worked great in this respect.

I really like that the Kromski comes complete: finished wood, a warping peg for direct warping AND a warping board (on the back of the loom), warping hook, clamps, etc.

The only thing I would have done differently if I had to do it over again would be to order the stand at the same time I ordered the loom! The 24" is pretty big; too big for most of our tables -- and the ones that are big enough are not really the right height for me to weave comfortably for very long.

Fast arrival and easy to set up Review by Leigh

I have a Kromski sonata spinning wheel that I just love, so my husband bought the Kromski 32" loom for me as an Anniversary present. It was easy to set up and is even really pretty just sitting in my studio. The stand makes it easy to use - I highly recommend getting that. The loom comes with a 32" shuttle, but I also got a couple of shorter shuttles as my first project will be smaller than the full 32" of the loom width. Craftsy has a class on warping a rigid heddle loom that is supposed to be really good. I'm looking forward to taking that and making some scarves for presents.

Once again Kromski delivers beauty and functionality for a low price Review by jennifer

I had been happy with my Kromski spinning wheels so I decided to make my RH Loom a Kromski as well, the only thing I'd change if i could would be that it came in the different wood finishes to match my wheels. I couldn't wait for my DH to get home to put it together for me- and i amazed myself by being able to follow the directions and do it all myself. The warping on the back of the looms frame was SO easy as was manipulating the loom and weaving on it, i definitely recommend this loom to my friends.

I love my Harp Review by Michele

I have a 24" Harp, and I love it. It's beautiful to look at and performs well. The warping board on the back of the loom was a big selling point for me.

I use it on the Kromski stand, and I like that I can flip the loom down on the stand with a project on it to take up less space.

I love nearly everything about my Harp. It's beautiful and a pleasure to weave on. I've been using the warping pegs a lot and thoroughly enjoy the process. One thing: the 32" comes with 32" shuttles, and I had to buy shorter ones.
Just have to say Paradise is great! Shipping, tech support...great store!

Impossible to assemble Review by Carolyn

Perhaps the 16" Harp that I just received is defective, but I have been struggling for 2 hours with both the written instructions and the video and it is still in pieces. I never hesitate to assemble things as I have never had difficulty doing that until this experience. First, you do need much more than just a screwdriver to assemble it. I have had to keep running for this and that, not simply a screwdriver as stated in the directions. Secondly, the video doesn't go in the same order as the written instructions which is confusing - nor does it go into any detail. Third, there are no good photos to help you along the way. Last, as someone with a minor bit of hand arthritis, I have found the screws to be quite difficult to manage - as the holes are drilled crooked on some of the pieces. I was so excited to get this product after much deliberation as to which loom to get for my first ever. Looks like I will have to wait till Monday to call the dealer for help. A very poor start to what was supposed to be a wonderful new endeavor.

Nice Loom Review by Donna

I purchased the 32" Kromski Harp because I decided that for a little extra money I could weave small or large projects vs. only smaller projects. The little extra money was worth a lot of versatility in the weaving. I am a self taught weaver, but the set up and use of the Harp has been phenomenal. I also purchased the stand and highly recommend it. Great loom to use at a great price!

The Harp is an Excellent Choice Review by ChelleC

Having researched all the RH looms before purchasing, I selected the Kromski 24" Harp. I've had it for a year now and highly recommend it to others. During that past year, I've had a chance to try weaving on several other brands, including it's big competitor, the Flip, and I still prefer the Harp.

Here's are the advantages:

* It's less expensive than most others - better value
* It's very pretty and pleasant to look at - has scroll-like European design that makes it a pleasure to look at - and it comes finished, unlike the Ashford RH.
* It has the ability to fold up, even with your weaving project on it, so that it is transportable and easy to get the tension back, even when it's been carried somewhere.
* Has warping pegs so that you can warp on the back without buying a separate warping board
* Fairly easy to assemble - even for someone like me, who is unmechanical
* I really like the 24" width because it is wide enough to do a larger project, but not so wide that it causes shoulder or back strain - if I weave larger than 24", I can just sew panels together.
* Though the stand costs extra - but is much less expensive than the competitor's stand for their looms. I feel that any loom 24" or wider becomes much more comfortable to weave on with it. I love sitting at my loom, with it on the stand and it helps me weave for longer period of time in comfort.
* There is a second heddle available for purchase should you choose to do more complex weaves, I'm getting ready to get that but haven't tried a second heddle yet.
* I can't say enough that I like the widths available for the Harp - while I only own the 24" version, I believe that it is much preferred width over the 20" Flip. That extra 4" gives you added flexibility to make wider projects - and remember that because weaving "draws in" a bit on the sides, the extra few inches allows you to make wider projects.

Cons:

* When you first get the loom, I've heard some people complain that the rachet that holds the fiber on the back beam doesn't "hold" as well as they'd like. When I first put the loom together, since that piece is just plastic, I worried it might be a problem, but it hasn't been for me. Just make sure as you are advancing your warp that your rachet is firmly in position, with the teeth in a stable position, but again, that has never been a problem for me, and I've made many projects in a year with no issues.
* I've also heard others complain that they think the stand is shakier or less substantial feeling than the more expensive stands. Having woven on a Flip, I can say that theirs is a bit more solid but twice the price and the stand on the Harp has worked FINE for me. When I sit at it, I rest my feet on the bottom and it has worked well.
