Recycled Multicolor Sari Silk Fiber from India

What a beautiful bag of spinning heaven! The colors of this recycled silk are vibrant and varied. I have been spinning this nice, clean silk up with merino top and plying it with Midnight Mulberry Potluck Roving for some amazing chunky, almost-art-yarn that is very lovely indeed. My daughter and I had great fun sorting the fibers by color. Thanks for another great product!

I really loved working with this fiber! It was a little hard to work with at first, I suggest that you use a scizors and hands to pull them apart so that you can work with it. Once that was done it made some of the most amazing yarn I have ever seen!

The colors are incredibly vibrant and there is a lot of it to like! I use this for blending with batts for art yarns and it can be spun on it's own also. You get a good variety of color in each bag of fiber. I had two orders and there is a definite base color, but all of them are beautiful!

The colors are bright and gorgeous! There are many hues, but mostly highly saturated colors, few pastels or "saddened " colors. I love them! There is a little bit of cloth that I'll need to unravel, but I don't see that as a big problem. I will probably buy more of this.

I have used sari silk in the past to card color into my alpaca fiber. The colors were nice but not as bold as this purchase. It is very clean and I am really looking forward to blending it into my pure black baby alpaca. Plus the price was right, and shipping is really fast!

Great colors with this sari silk. I had to rip it apart a little more then expected but it carded into the other fibers well. Price was a little high but not bad. It was mostly clean also with no dirt or debris.

The best reason, I think, for buying this fiber instead of just getting a skein of pre-made sari silk yarn is that most of the sari yarns I've seen on the market are much thicker than I like to work with. If you take your time and are careful, this fiber spins up nice and thin and once plied makes for a beautiful, shiny thin yarn that is very strong. It may not be the best fiber for beginners to spin as it tends to break easily as a single thin strand, but those same beginners can spin it thick without worrying about breakage. I ended up plying a single thin ply of this with another ply of black alpaca, which made for an ultra-strong, very thin silk yarn blend that was wonderful to weave with.

Price, as well as description write up, made me buy a bag of Sari silks. The colors were vibrant, much of the fiber was useable, but I feel I was one of the 'unlucky ones' regarding wads of material, dirt and leaves/seed pods/sticks. The description says the silks are 'recycled'. I am pretty sure my bag was floor sweepings. Glad to read you have found another supplier, but gun shy of buying more.

I bought this fiber to mix with some wool and spin. I was with pleased the quality and colors of the fibers. It is super easy to card and mix. Quite satisfied with the very pretty yarn results. I plan to felt it into a purse.

Looks lovely. I can hardly wait to mix this with some wool or alpaca and spin some lovely yarn. I knitted shawls with the Sari Yarn last year for 8 relatives and they were beautiful. This looks like a kalidescope in a bag.

My batch had good colors, very little debris, and is lots of fun to blend and spin up. Some will be blended with other fibers, but some will be spun alone. I like my yarn for weaving to be thinner than the stuff for sale. I will probably order more later.

The colors were a bit disappointing - large amounts of one color, dull selection. The chaos of knots is going to take quite a while to sort thru - will probably take the scissors and cut thru the tangles, hopefully pulling out usable pieces.

The first batch wasn't that colorful -- but it works with some of the dyed wool and other fibers. I couldn't keep my hands off of the fiber in order to blend -- so I used my Tahkli metal support spindle and spun up a small amount. It spins nicely by itself. It also blends well with other fiber and sort of acts like a "glue" to keep the shorter fibers together.

The second batch is very colorful. I will be ordering more to experiment with different fiber blends.

I read the reviews and was expecting to have to cut warp knots out and that there would be some dust and debris, but I may have gotten lucky in the batch sent to me in that there is only minor dust and debris. All in all, well worth a little time investment and I am looking forward to my first project. The colors are to dye for!

Note from Paradise: We try to filter out the little bits of dust and debris when we weight it out as best we can. Our current supplier is much better and our supply is a lot cleaner. Make sure to try our Pulled Sari Silk for blending, there is no need to cut it and it blends really nice. It has more of a fluffy feel and is kinda like nice sari silk dryer lint.

I sorted through by color, then chose a bunch that was a bright multicolor batch. I began spinning with my new cultivated silk fiber roll and dropped batches of the sari silk at intervals into the draw on my drop spindle. The sari silk wrapped around the white silk. I finished my sample by Navajo plying the single, making a party kind of yarn. I am happy with it and the bright colors

I found some yarn spun from silk ends at a local yarn store. I was really excited to find that I could get the silk ends to spin myself. Can't wait to use it!

I'm having a ton of fun with this fiber, sadly i have bad allergies and some of the wads of color were dusty, sending me reaching for a dust mask and allergy meds. It's a love hate relationship. I think the results are worth it. If you're sensitive to mystery dust, cut the fibers down to where you need them and CAREFULLY clean them/soak them/rinse them/ dry them

The material is truely recycled. One has to go through and prep as there were many warp threads still connected with cotton string and had to be cut out. Some silk fabrik pieces were in there and I removed those, too. String was much too long for spinning, so I cut everything down to about 5 inch length and slightly mixed the colors. Now I have a beautiful bright assembly of colors ready to be blended with some wool for spinning.

I sent my order in late on a Friday night and my items were in my mail box the next Friday morning. Very good considering Paradise Fibers is on the West Coast and I'm on the East!
As for the Sari Silk; looking through the clear plastic bag was a thrill. The vibrancy of the many different colors was breathtaking, when I put my hand in the bag and felt how soft the fibers were I knew I'd be ordering from Paradise Fibers again, very soon.

This stuff is fun! I love the way it spins up. You won't get a super consistent single with this, but I've been spinning it thin and letting little slubs of color fall where they may. I plan to ply it with black, and think it's going to make a great art yarn! It's clean, and easy to spin. I tried a bit carded into some other wool to blend, and it blends great. I really love this stuff.

Very nice color variety in the 4 ounces I purchased. This was pretty tangled when I got it, so it took a little more work to spin with it, however it is also available in a cut fiber, so I probably would get that next time.
