Paradise Fibers Fake Cashmere Top Spinning Fiber

The first faux cashmere I ever spun was Louet's. It was and is an absolute thrill to spin and makes spinning extra fine a breeze. The singles were extra fine and slick, and the resulting yarn was wonderfully squishy and the best yarn I've spun to date. I loved it so much that I ordered some more, but also ordered some of this (Paradise Fiber's version) to see if there was a big difference between the two. It IS very verrry soft, but I was sadly disappointed otherwise. Where Louet's is smooth and easy to pull into sections, this stuff was fuzzy and unruly. Simply trying to split it down the center made the top fall apart every which way to the point where it was just a fluffy clump. Trying to spin it resulted in a frustrating and fuzzy single that just got fuzzier and fuzzier due to static. I did find that it worked ok for carding though. In fact, I suspect carding is the only thing I will use it for.

One other thing worth mentioning is that Louet's faux cashmere top dyed beautifully, whereas Paradise Fiber's became unrecognizable as top the second it was submerged in water.

This fiber is very soft and I love that it can be machine washed. I am looking forward to making this my first dye project.

Though I appreciate the honesty of identifying this fiber as 'fake', it is unjust to do so! When I teach my 'Know Your Fibers' class this Faux Cashmere is so much fun! The Students touch the roving, exclaiming, "How Soft!" but when I hand them a wheel spun skein, without exception, everyone buries their face in it! Then I tell them what it is-nylon! Incredible fiber. It was a little slippery to handle at first, but soon enough I got the hang of it. I will say it again, "So much fun". And so very, very white, I don't want to dye it, which is saying a lot, as I tend to dye anything that doesn't outrun me!

Natural mohair fiber is so hard to wear for those with allergies. This fiber is silky, soft and blendable with other faux fibers. A wonderful alternative to the real thing!

It took dye very well. An excellent alternative for allergy sufferers. I'll both blend it and spin by itself - can't wait!

So suilky and soft! Will blend and soften other woolen fibers like Gotland.

Just received my fiber a week ago, I took it to our spinners meeting. Everyone loved it. I plan on mixing it with some of my fine wool.

I know of a few people who are allergic to wool and this fiber provides a great substitute. However I also have visions of a sweater/jacket plying this with a black shetland wool then handpaint dying to give a rich mottled effect to scale crochet work. I will let re-review once this project is done for plying/dying effects.

I was so surprised when I tried spinning this for the first time. I thought it would be slick like bamboo, and while it is slippery, the long fibers give you more control. Spinning long draw gave me such an airy soft yarn, wonderful for my mother in law who is allergic to animal fibers. So happy I bought this, can't wait to try dyeing the yarn!

this stuff is just so rediculous. it's like holding a cool fluffy cloud. this is an amazing product and definitely makes other fibers even softer when blended. When I'm holding the fiber, it's hard to believe it isn't real cashmere. Seriously, REDICULOUS is the best word I can use to describe this fiber. You won't believe what's in your hands. I can normally tell a difference between synthetic fibers and natural ones and this one certainly has my hands fooled! What a great time to be a spinner/knitter!

This is so incredibly soft, it's hard to believe it is fake. I had a little trouble dyeing it and spinning it but it could just be my inexperience with this type of fiber. I was getting white spots when dying because the water wouldn't penetrate all the way. When spinning it was hard to spin consistently because of how slick it is. But this is a great blending fiber and I have no troubles spinning once blended.

very impressed with the quality of fiber easy to spin. really cant wait to get some more you guys are doing a great job the color was amazing I would recomend this to every one cant wait to get it all spun up and work on a new project with this fiber really looking oward to purchasing more fiber from you guys

I love this stuff. This is the second time I have purchased it., and I will definately be buyong it again. I will be blending it with my own wool and mohair. The projects that I have come up with are astounding..

I have only spun wool, being a new spinner but I wanted to try something new. A friend recommended "fake cashmere" so I got some. It dyed beautifully and although it to a bit getting use to, spinning was a dream. It feels so silky when you spin. it just slides along. Everyone who touches the finished yarn thinks it feels fantastic.

This fiber is so very nice. I was thrilled with it. Extremely soft, takes dye in a brilliant manor. Also the dye take up time is quick ! Many spinner fiber people also have told me they are happy with it and like the vegan aspect. Will and have already ordered more.

I'm setting up a fiber store and looking for fibers that people will not be alergic to. This fiber will be welcome to those who cannot spin Alpaca or Sheep's wool. When I have established my store, I will sit down and spin with this an the other fibers I have purcashed from Paradise Fibers.

A few years ago, I made my mother-in-law (an avid knitter) a skein of cashmere yarn to use in a project. She was so flustered at having such an expensive yarn at her disposal that she ended up putting the yarn in a display basket, where it has stayed to this day. So last year, I bought a pound of this fiber and made her a dozen skeins of fake cashmere yarn, with the understanding that this was a very inexpensive fiber she could use for all sorts of projects without feeling as though she was "wasting" an expensive fiber. Honestly, it's hard to tell the difference between the fake and the real cashmere, and the baby blanket my mother-in-law made my sister-in-law with my yarn are wonderful to touch, sweet-smelling, and worthy of passing down to more grandchildren someday.

I am now obsessed with this dreamy faux cashmere. It is soooooo soft, and takes dyes nicely. I like to blend it with various wool and other fiber for a touch of affordable luxury. It spins up nicely and is a pleasure to work with. The soft yarn produced is especially nice for baby hats. And to think I was a fiber snob, lol. Give this a chance and you' ll see.

So amazingly soft. I haven't worked with it much yet, but had a difficult time spinning it on its own, so will probably stick to my original plan of blending it with some fibers that are pretty, but not quite as soft. It took dye well, as others have mentioned, so I'm looking forward to doing some more experimenting with it.

I really fell in love with the fake cashmere. It takes the dyes in my kettle pots very well. It is so soft, just as soft as silk but with all of the likeness of cashmere. It has a buttery soft feeling. Plus this was the first item to sell at my festival once dyed up. I will be back for more!

I love this stuff! It's amazingly soft, yet strong. It blends well with other fibers. It competes with the expensive cashmere yarn blends I've purchased. Can't wait to try it in a blend with the faux angora, and try dying it myself. I'll definitely buy more in the future.

this product is softer then the other fake cashmere i brought and i cant wait to start blending it with my wool and angora for beautiful hand spun items but first to the dye pots it will go . I just know it going to be a wonderful add in for my wooly batts come winter .

This stuff sucks up dye like a dream and is very soft. It likes spinning up fine for me, but that's ok, because its also super stretchy spun up. It reminds me of the elasticity of human hair. I plan on using a lot of it as one of the 3 plies in sock yarn with some strong, but not necessarily soft or bright dying wools.

This fiber appeals to me primarily as a mostly-vegan spinner, but given the price and the end result, I could see it edging out goat cashmere for many crafters. Pros: thick singles feel both squishy and strong, the end result looks smooth and clean, and the nylon was easy to work with. Cons: seems to want to be spun on the thicker side regardless of my intentions, the complaints about needing different dyes than usual are the same as I wrote in my faux angora review. I haven't worked with goat cashmere enough to do a point-by-point comparison, but this fiber is very soft and luxurious by itself and adds a striking, silky element when blended (I spun a single of it held together with carbonized bamboo and I can't remember the last time I found a yarn so irresistible to touch). Ultimately I got this fiber with the intent to sell what I made, but there's no way I'm parting with all of it.

I can't believe this isn't the real thing! So delicious to handle, takes dye like a dream, and allows me to share the excitement of fabulous hand-spun yarn with my friend who is allergic to wool.

This product is very easy to work with. It takes dye well and requires less dye than wool. No problem with felting this item!

This is my all-time favorite fiber to spin. It is a bit weird at first - it feels almost like spinning elastic, but you can quickly get used to it. It becomes very easy to spin thin or thick. It is even so soft, I use it to spin when my fingers are sore from spinning other fibers. It makes the softest yarn and is great for allergy-free baby items, so you will always find a use for it!

I was very surprised at just how soft and wonderful this fiber was. It also takes dye very well. Will order this again, and it is at a great price. Not to mention Paradise Fibers are great people to deal with and ship your orders very quickly, I have always be very satisfied with everything I have ever ordered. Thanks for all your hard work.

I have not tried the roving spun by it's self but it is beautiful mixed with top..can be a little slippery when spinning. Has a lovely presentation.[...]

Fake cashmere is a joy for spinning. I plyed the fiber with merino. It is so soft and dyes beautifully. Excellent for sock and gloves.

This is the SOFTEST silkiest most seductive stuff I have EVER put my hands into! I had to just lovingly fondle it a few hours before running it thru my Louet Roving Carder to make custom blends for my knitted hat gifts this year. I was not sure, when I first ordered Faux Cashmere, if I was going to get an inferior product, but this is an incredible fiber to work with. I will order it again and again. I have purchased over 3 pounds of this fiber and have savored every minute that I had it running through my fingers at the spinning wheel. I am looking forward to do more.

I just could not get enough! I purchased 25 ounces and spun it in a couple of days, I just couldn't get away from my wheel. I want to get more. It slides through your hand and takes twist easily. It has incredible drape and would make elegant garments. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fiber that is wonderfully soft and wants the feel of cashmere without the price. It is also easier to spin than cashmere because of the long staple length. Tell all your friends and get some for yourself and see how wonderful it feels against your skin.

This is my favorite vegan fiber to work with! It is so soft and smooth and drafts easily. It also dyes beautifully (with acid dyes). I love to spin it very fine and navajo-ply it, which results in a super-strong yarn. It is heavier and less bouncy than wool, so it provides great drape when knit into a finished item. Since it is nylon, it is also great for blending with other fibers to add strength.

I love this fiber. I know how soft it is because I bought some handspun faux cashmere. So, I'm learning to spin with it! So far so good! It is unbelievably soft and shiny! I can't wait to receive my second shipment and spin some more! I love that Paradise Fibers carries the faux animal fibers. That is one of the main things that inspired me to start spinning.
