Maple* Floor Looms

While both the low and high castle looms take up the same amount of floor space, the low castle appears visually smaller. A high castle loom includes a storage tray and holes drilled in the top of the castle uprights for the swivel pin of an extension lamp.

The Schacht Standard floor loom has an underslung jack mechanism to raise the shafts. The jacks pivot from two points equidistant from the center and lift the shafts by pushing up on the center point. The looms use a parallel lamm system, which gives them a light treadling action. Because of this parallel lamm, it isn't necessary to adjust the tie-up cords.

Our tie-up system is quick and easy to use. Premeasured nylon tie-up cords hang from the lamms and are attached to a treadle by sliding the appropriate cords into the treadle slot. This makes changing tie-ups very fast. Other special features of our Standard floor looms include: friction reducing aluminum shaft channels, a back beam which folds with or without a warp on the loom, removable back and breast beams, and an adjustable open-sided beater. Our braking system employs a ratchet and dog on the cloth beam and a friction brake on the warp beam. This combination give you precise tension control at all times.

Maple Loom Bench

The Schacht loom bench is a beautiful companion piece to either the Wolf and Standard floor loom. The bench seat height is adjustable from 19" to 24" and has been designed to either offer you a flat or slanted seat position. The bench is free of side posts, which allows you to move around unrestricted. Below the seat is a storage bin for holding your accessories. The loom bench is available in cherry and maple. Our optional bench bags can be purchased with the bench or added later. The bags are made of durable Cordura cloth and can be mounted on either or both sides of the bench seat. They are available with cherry or maple end bars.

Rigid Heddle Looms

The rigid heddle loom is a simple frame loom which has both warp and cloth beams and a clever shedding device that also functions as a beater. Available weaving widths are 20" and 25". Our rigid heddle looms can be used with or without a stand.

Table Looms
Table looms are great for classroom use, workshops, sampling, and small projects. They are ideal for learning about four- and eight-shaft pattern weaving, since the direct tie-up through the hand levers allows for infinite experimentation. Our table looms are expertly crafted of the finest hard maple and built for maximum structural stability. Many schools use our table looms and find they weather well after many years of heavy use.

We use fine-toothed nylon gears on both the warp and cloth beams, which allow precise tension control. Our front-mounted levers make shaft selection easy to reach with each hand. Front-mounted levers also make it easy to see at a glance which shafts are raised. Schacht table looms are available in three weaving widths-15", 20", and 25"- with four or eight shafts. The looms come with a carbon steel reed in your choice of 6, 8, 10, 12, or 15 dents. Flat steel heddles, two apron rods, and three lease sticks are also included. A double back beam is available for all table loom widths
