This yarn is created locally for us by our friend Kathleen Cullen and her oh so soft Baby Alpacas. This yarn is processed mildly and doesn't go through an acid bath like most other yarns and leaves it with more natural softness. Made up of 90% Baby Suri Alpaca and 10% Superfine 15 micron Merino Wool makes this yarn perfect for hats and other garments where you need some memory.

My hat Sara made me with the Misti Alpaca 100% Alpaca is very soft and I love it but...it kind of flopped out after about a week as Alpaca by itself needs some merino wool for memory. This yarn does the trick and won't flop out like 100% Alpaca rest assured. The Merino that is in this yarn is superfine certified and absolutely magnificent! This yarn is very soft but will retain its shape well with the 10% wool. 100grams per skein 210yds

This is a Great yarn! I love the fact that it's handspun and from a farm versus some huge company. Also it makes the most incredible cowls! I made one for my husband in one evening. He is Very sensitive to anything slightly itchy or scratchy around his neck, but this seemed to be ok! I was so pleased to finally find a Warm yarn to make him some stuff to keep warm when he's out in the wind and weather pouring concrete! It's quite light but the alpaca makes it warm.
I Really wish this came in other colors as well! Say black and gray. I'd buy every color!

Price

I much prefer handspun yarn when it is affordable, and this certainly is affordable. the color is a soft warm brown and it feels luxurious. I appreciate the added worsted for memory. I am crocheting and afghan for myself and it is a dream to work with. Will definitely use for future projects.
