Paradise Fibers Super Swift II - wooden swift with Carry Bag

This is the first swift I've ever purchased but I've seen other types of swifts used when visiting local yarn shops. It was very easy to assemble right out of the box. It is very stable while turning and works extremely well with my Fricke ball winder. I easily wound a 478 yard ball of wool yarn without tangles or troubles. It is quite large and you will need a wide, clear surface to use it. However, it is quick and easy to both assemble and disassemble for storage. The muslin bag sent for storage is very nice.

I bought this to use both as a swift and a skeiner for my handspun. I appreciated the detail provided in the video on the use of it as a swift (minus the clumsy sexist joke that really should be edited out) However information on the best way to use it as a skeiner need to be included in either another video or the instructions. I think it's nicely made, and easy to assemble and store.

Love the adjustable arms on this swift and how smoothly it glides when it rotates. Works for any size skin you may have, hand spun or store bought. It also comes apart very easily into a great storable size.

I got a ball winder for Xmas so, I bought this to use with it. Works great, spins smooth and you just have to watch for tangles. I prefer to use it with the bushing for a looser ball, since the tight ball was tough to get off the winder. I was winding lace yarn and had no problem getting the skein on the swift. When it hits a tangle it tends to back spin.

After my wooden umbrella swift broke, I shopped online and found this one. I have always heard that these table top swifts are superb, but I had never seen one used. I watched the video and ordered it right away. The price was about half of what I paid for my umbrella swift, and it comes in this small bag so it will be easy to carry, never bulky like the umbrella was. I found that it wound with much less tension on the ball than the umbrella swift. If the yarn is nice quality, I always rewound because the umbrella swift leaves a hard ball, it pulls the energy in the yarn. I would 4 skeins of Socks That Rock and they are nice and relaxed with all of their energy. I heartily recommend this to anyone considering a swift. It will last you forever. The best part about it is that Paradise Fibers, as always, got it pulled, packed. and shipped in 4 days. They are awesome!

The product works great as a swift that holds a skein of yarn for winding the yarn into a ball. I wanted the swift to do the opposite and take it from a ball of yarn into a skein. There is a longer wood piece for this use. This does not work well, or I am using it incorrectly. I watched the video to find out how to use it in this manner, but the video did not cover this. I almost did not complete the video after the man on the video joked about women assembling the product - I believe the comment was even a woman could assemble it. I found the comment quite offensive and if I would have seen the video prior to purchase, I probably would have found another website to purchase the product from. I intend to purchase another swift so I can reskein my yarn, I do not know if I will buy this one again because of the offensive video.

Love it. Got it for Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised. It rotates smoothly and very fast. I am able to turn a skein of yarn into a ball within minutes. It is very stable and I haven't had an issue with it.

This is the first time I used a swift. When I thought of buying a swift I looked at all the different kinds of swifts and the cost. This swift seemed the easiest to use. Great price for the for thought the designer put into it and for the workmanship of the product.

I researched swifts for months before I purchased this one a year or so ago. I have not had enough time to really use it to its full potential until the past few months and I am very impressed. I pair it with an electric cone winder and sit back and watch it do its magic. You have to keep an eye on the skein of yarn you're unwinding for tangles and knots, but the swift works like a charm!

Works well and I find it easy and quick to assemble. The muslin bag from Lantern Moon is so convenient for storage. Is stable sitting on the table during use and I am happy to not have to clamp it to the table. At first a couple of my pegs were tight and did not fit into all the holes, but after a few uses they slip interchangably into the holes without a problem.

I got my swift a few months ago but only got the chance to wind yarn on it recently. I love it. It assembles quickly and is less apt to create tangles than an umbrella swift -- and it's better than the table swift I've been using. I like that it's adjustable for virtually all skein sizes.

Sturdy, quiet, quick and easy to set up, easy to store and works beautifully. The lovely storage bag is very nice, but the real treat is the simplicity and quality of the swift.

I have an umbrella swift and it works fine. HoweverI need to have some place to clamp it. This Super Swift II is wonderful to use as I can set it up any where and get my skeins wound off into balls.

I bought the Paradise Fibers Super Swift II to replace my metal umbrella swift. This swift is SO much better in SO many ways! Its operation is smooth, speedy and QUIET. Yarn doesn't get caught on the swift. It accommodates a HUGE range of hank sizes.

This swift's ONE downside is that it needs quite a bit of table space on which to operate. My metal swift clamped to the table and operated a couple of feet above my winder, so it had never occurred to me how much space a swift requires. Thus I had to make some changes to my yarn-winding setup, but it was DEFINITELY worth it!

I already had a swift before purchasing this one but I never worked that great and I couldn't wind my handspun yarn into a nice looking skein. The Super Swift works as a great skein winder. Being used to the umbrella swift, having to 'build' this swift each time I use it is a little cumbersome, but it's worth the effort. My skein looks much neater; all this time I thought it was just me being bad at winding skeins.
Best part is that this one will not collapse in the middle of skeining since it's fighting one less force (gravity).

I wish the 'arms' had guides on it for certain diameter, but you can easily mark it yourself.

It is easy to use and assemble. I like having the storage bag, I keep it tucked away until I needed. The umbrella swifts I have seen being used, all have been taped back together. They do not seem durable. I do keep good care of my knitting supplies so this should last 20 years or more, so the price per year is good! I would reccomend this swift!

I just received my Super Swift II yarn swift yesterday and am so impressed with this product. It is so easy to put together and use right away. My husband purchased this from PF as a gift. I couldn't be happier. Unlike an umbrella swift, I don't have to have a table to clamp it to. It's portable, easy to set up and can be used in a wide variety of spaces. The carrying bag is a fun embroidered bag from Lantern Moon and the well constructed swift does all I need it to. I've recommended it to many friends and I will continue to do so.

Absolutely LOVE this swift! It arrived in great condition. Looked like a bag of "tinker toys" but was intuitively easy to put together. 5 minutes later . . . I'm winding all my stashed hanks and voila!! they're done! LOVE that it is a tabletop model and LOVE that it assembles/disassembles so easily AND stores in its own bag. Could NOT be happier with this product!

I like this swift a lot. Yes it takes up space but I put it on a block to raise it off the table and allows me to put things underneath the revolving arms. Its easy to use and as in the video I don't have to hold the yarn and when I stop winding the swift does too. This is my second swift as I have several homes and this is the one I want in each!!

The Super Swift is just what I wanted. I have been looking and wishing for a while, and had decided that I didn't want the umbrella type. Probably fine as many folks seem to love them, seemed like too delicate and more prone to breakage. This purchase was kind of a luxury for me, as I can certainly wind yarn without one - but makes winding yarn SOOOO much easier. Fun.

I love the Super Swift II. I took it out of the bag. Put it together in a few minutes and wound my yarn beautifully. What more could I ask for. It is also very nice looking. If you are looking for a compact, portable, easy to use yarn swift, this is the one!

I watched the demonstration video before I ordered the Super Swift II, and one viewing was all it took to be ready to use this. The Super Swift II, along with a Royal Winder, was delivered on my front porch at 3:30pm, took 5 minutes to set up, and then an hour later, I had 16 beautiful center pull balls of yarn!! It is so well made and operates so smoothly that it's a little addictive - too bad I don't have any more unwound skeins!! Kudos on a well designed product.

I decided to purchase this after viewing the instructional video on line. (I had been doing a search for yarn swifts and discovered table top ones!) It's just as easy to set up and take down as the video shows. And it's just as quiet to use too. I like that it's a table top model. I had been putting off purchasing a yarn swift due to the space an umbrella type takes up. The optional spacer/washer is nice (although I have not had a need to use it yet). Before I knew it my yarn was wound into neat cakes of yarn. Never had any problems with tension. This is a very nice quality made item, beautiful design, and well thought out. Would recommend highly to anyone. I also appreciate the storage bag - which was also made well with nice embroidery (I also sew). I'm surprised that local and on line yarn shops don't carry this - it's the best. Glad I shopped around and waited.

some of the holes weren't quite big enough for the pegs & had to drill them out a bit. Needed a little sanding for splintery bits.
But it works great! Once you put the yarn-holding pegs on, you can just leave them on the branches when you take the swift apart. Usually only need to adjust one of the yarn holders to accommodate a different-sized skein. After using 2 different umbrella swifts, I can say this is far far better.
But should add this note to the directions: the branches need to be put in with the flat side on the right or it will look like it doesn't fit together correctly.
One thing that would make this swift perfect would be a way to attach the spinning part to the base so you could hang the whole thing on a wall.

I coveted this swift for a year, during which time I looked at other swifts including cheaper options, more expensive options, and umbrella options. At last I bought the Super Swift, and even though I had seen the demo video over a year ago, putting it together was very intuitive. It's solid construction belies the quick assembly and disassembly. I have wanted a swift for a long time but didn't want a bulky umbrella swift that had to be clamped to a table. I found this swift and just love it. It sits nicely on any flat surface, is simple to assemble and works beautifully. It is also important to me that it is made in the USA. The video on the website was also a help since I have never used one before. The carrying bag is simple and practical and makes storage easier. Shipping was fast. I would highly recommend this swift.

I just love this product. My husband put it together for me the day it arrived, and it was just as easy as the video shows. I have found a place where I can leave it assembled, and although I have not used it yet, know that when I do it will do a great job using it along with my Royal ball winder. I received the shipment of my swift rapidly. It is light-weight, sturdy, easy to use, and easy to disassemble and store in its bag in a small space. I shared it with one of my knitting friends who had 14 skeins of tussah silk yarn she bought some time ago and had never wound for knitting. She was delighted with it also and commented that it would need to go on her wish list for Christmas. Obviously, this swift was carefully designed with real knitters in mind!

The Super Swift II is one of the best that I have used, and I have used them all. The selling point was the video that showed what I was getting for my money. Keep up the good work.

Received swift for my birthday; my family ordered it for me after seeing the demonstration video. I'm mostly a lace knitter, and have large skeins of lace to wind (1500+ yds). I wanted to pair the Paradise swift with a jumbo yarn winder I'd purchased this summer at Lacis. First I decided to try the Paradise swift out by just winding some Noro Iro, and it made short work of the chunky 100 gram balls, no problem. Then I upped the ante and tried the Super Swift II out with a huge skein of Blue Moon Fiber Arts laceweight, a whopping 1750 yards. Again, no problem, swift wound like a dream. The engineered "drag" of the Paradise swift is extremely helpful; even when you're cranking along pretty fast it can prevent a problem if you have to stop quickly. Think this swift is a nifty product--but would not try winding this large of a lace skein with just a regular Royal ball winder--for skeins this large you do need a jumbo winder to do the job in conjunction with the Super Swift.

This is a great swift. I am so pleased. The only drawback is that I have some HUGE skeins of
yarn that I got from a friend (lace weight) put up in 1 lb. hanks)and it was too thick for the 4 dowels so had to rubberband pencils to the dowels to keep it from slipping off. However, when using with regular skeins I couldn't be happier.

Is there a way to get the 4 clip on yarn holders in a longer length?

I have been knitting for 55 years. I wish I had found this many years ago. No more trying to wind yarn and get though tangles. This is perfect. I got it two hours ago and haven't stopped. This smart design works beautifully with the Ball Winder to make winding yarn quick and easy. And the final result is better than a hand done ball or a store bought pre-wound version. It has a better tension and doesn't tangle at all.

Am really pleased with it. Saves a lot of time in winding hanks of yarn perfectly. Highly recommend one to any knitter.

This swift was easy to put together and the storage bag is useful to keep all the parts together. I've used umbrella swifts in the past and they don't compare by a long shot with the ease of operation of this one. There was no tangled yarn or slippage. I highly reocommend it. The online demonstration video is helpful, but the set up of the swift is a little confusing because it is for the older model.

I had this on my Christmas "wish list" but did not get it (well, to be fair I got some very nice needles instead, which was very good!). I decided to buy the swift and a royal ball winder for MYSELF for my birthday this month, and I am so glad that I did. I have wound all of my sock yarn and did not have a single problem -- obviously I NEED more sock yarn!

This is swift is super easy to put together. It has a great weight that not only keeps it from creeping across your table, but that also provides the perfect tension. It is adjustable to pretty much any size hank you might want to wind. It spins super fast, but you can adjust the speed if you want to. I think it is the best swift on the market and it is built to last!

I love this swift. It stays in place on the table when winding my yarn with Boye Electric Yarn Ball Winder. The only thing that is a negative about the swift is that it is not stained or painted. It could have been finished or you could have an option for a finished or unfinished swift.

I highly recommend this swift. It's a quality item, is very easy to set up, tears down to store in a bag that comes with the swift and operates very smoothly. Adjustments are almost infinite.

The tabletop yarn swift is easy to use and is exactly as represented in the video. I watched the online video and put it together with no problem. This is the first winder/yarn holder that I have bought. I liked the way you can adjust the spindles to hold your yarn. The directions that are included are easy to understand for the assembly of the winder. It comes with a nice cloth bag for storage.

Short on room here, so ability to store easily was important. Set up and take down is simple and stores in it's bag on a shelf. (Love the embroidery on the bag, by the way.) I like that I can use the washer to speed things up or slow it down (and the fact that the washer has its own little storage place within). Great product - simple, straight forward design that works!

I was looking for a tabletop swift and I found it! I had seen one in a magazine and decided it would be better for my purposes. None of my local yarn stores had one. I went on the internet and found Paradise Fibers. I looked at the YouTube video and decided from the video to purchase it because you could take it apart. That's important for storage since I don't have a dedicated area to keep one up. Since I followed the instruction video, I knew how to put it together and make adjustments. I have been able to wind my yarns without having to do it the slow, painful way of unwinding the hanks by hand and getting things tangled.

I love my new Paradise Fibers swift. I've owned other types of swifts in the past. This one surpasses the others in so many ways. It's super easy to assemble. It's quiet and lightweight and very portable. Just got done winding several skeins into center ball pulls, and the swift didn't budge an inch on the table. It stops right away, too, when the skein is finished. My hubby used to complain about my old swift making so much noise. With my new PF swift, he didn't even know I was winding yarn. I decided to try a swift that does not need to be clamped to a table or chair. This one is easy to set up, adjusts quickly to different sized skeins and comes apart to store in its own bag. I found I prefer to use the extra washer to make the swift turn faster.

If you don't yet have a swift, get this one! If you've only used the umbrella style, you must try this swift. A friend gave me 20 skeins of vintage 100% rayon yarn with the original cardboard bands. After struggling to get one skein wound on my ball winder, I put it away and searched the web for yarn swifts. Paradise Fibers has an excellent video showing exactly how their swift is assembled and used. This swift works just like the video demonstration - no dissapointments. It is easy to adjust for skein sizes from small to very large. I'm impressed with the compact size, so it will definitely be going along in the RV.
The bonus storage bag embroidered with Paradise Fibers logo is a bit thin for storing the wood components of the swift, but it works great for my current knitting project! Thanks for a great product!

I did quite a bit of research before I asked my husband to buy this for me for my birthday. I liked the option of not having to clamp the swift to a table. I've used the unmbrella-type yarn swifts at yarn stores - and when you get near the end of the hank the yarn flies off the yarn swift. This swift does not keep spinning when you stop pulling/winding the yarn. I don't even have the ball winder yet, but I might want one if I was to wind up sock or lace weight yarn. I did, however, leave my yarn swift assembled and in reach of my pug - who chewed on one of the pegs that hold the yarn. When I asked Sara if they had extra parts for sale - and explained the pug-tastrophe, she just gave me a replacement part!

Gift for my sister. SHe loves it. She knits a lot and had to hand wind her yarn so it very happy.

My husband researched and purchased the yarn swift for me as a surprise for Christmas. I was pretty impressed with his knowledge, but even more impressed with the product. It was easy to put together, easy to take apart, fits any size hank, has great tension, keeps up with the yarn baller and is lots of fun to use. My son-in-law wound four balls of wool in about 15 minutes. He had so much fun he would have wound balls all day long.

I bought this swift when I became tired of my old umbrella swift collapsing in the midst of a yarn wind. The old one was only able to wind fairly large skeins, and it wasn't very sturdy. You had to screw it onto the tabletop you were using.

This new Paradise Superswift is outstanding. It's easy to assemble, even for someone who is totally unmechanical, like me. It is easy to use. What I love about it is that you don't have to screw it onto any tabletop, it just sits atop the table's surface and is very sturdy, doesn't move. It has a natural tension built into the swift so that as you wind, the yarn is wound firmly into a neat, compact yarn cake. The arms of the swift are adjustable to whatever size skein you are winding. This is especially nice for handspinners like me, who might have different sized skeins. It winds everything from small, slick textured yarns like silk clear up to the bulkiest and thickly textured yarns.

I love so many features of this swift. If you stop turning the ball winder for whatever reason, the swift automatically stops too, so your winding process stays in control. As you near completion, the yarn doesn't jump off the top as so many swifts tend to do. Best of all, the swift is easy transportable. It came with a sturdy muslin bag with a drawstring. So when I'm finished using it, I just take it quickly apart and store it in the bag. This makes it especially handy to take to sit and knit events as well as spinalongs.

This swift is great. Assembles in a flash. I love that you can store it away in that adorable bag. Most important. I was a little concerned that it would move around while in use. Put your fear aside, it doesn't move at all. My "traditional" swift decided it didn't want to stay clamped to the table. It may end up in the chimnea.

This was easy to set up and use. I like the new feature of being able to control the "speed" of the spinning. Great design, great product. Definitely would recommend it to anyone! thanks.

Very easy to use and set up! Substantial product that does not need to be fastened down - just set on the tabletop. So far I have not found any hanks too large or small to use with this.

I use this swift for all of my skeins. It is the best. Very well made and a well thought out design. When your yarn stops it stops. No more tangles and tears. And the great thing is you can easily take it apart and store it. The assembly is very easy. I highly recommend this. Makes a great gift.

Where to start...I have had my swift for less than a month and don't know how I ever lived without one. I had wanted one for some time but found them to be a bit pricey. This swift is worth every penny. I no longer have to hang my hanks on the cupboard doors to wind them into balls, which saves me more time for knitting. I have used the swift to wind hanks of my handspun yarn into balls. Both speeds work equally well and it has wound everything from novelty yarns to very fine yarns with precise tension. When the swift stops so does the yarn...no tangles.

Not sure if this is the proper use of the skeiner but here's how I used it....I love a good bargain and found some beautiful skeins of mohair yarn at a local thrift store. It had been bagged and I didn't realize til I opened the bags, at home, that they had an odor and needed to be washed. The best way to wash wool is by hand and in hanks, so I used the swift to wind the mohair balls into hanks of yarn for easy washing. The skeining peg worked beautifully for winding into hanks. I used it as a handle to spin the swift. All 25 skeins wound right into manageable hanks that washed and dried beautifully. In fact, I have some old yarns that could use a good washing and am planning on doing the same with them. I also decided to take apart a sweater I had started some time ago and use it for a different project. I wound it onto the swift into hanks, using the skeining peg as well. Now, the instructions don't recommend this...but I actually used the swift on my daybed (rather than a table) while watching tv to skein the yarn from the sweater...it was at a slow enough speed that it wound on just fine. I would not recommend this at high speed.

This is my first swift and can't imagine ever needing another one. It's easy to set up, easy to take down, and packs away into its' little bag up in my closet. Very convenient!

The reason I only gave it a 4-star rating is that I wish there had been a few more explicit instructions. I watched the video online a number of times, and it was helpful. Be sure NOT to stretch your yarn too tight on the swift, and wind at an even speed. In the video, she shows the swift stopping if you stop winding .... mine did not stop and I had a tangled mess. My screws are on the side, unlike what is shown in the video. Is this a newer version?

I have no idea how to wind yarn into a skein or why you would want to (maybe something about that in the instructions would be nice?). The reason I bought it was to wind hanks into cakes, and for that purpose it works very well. I've had the swift about two weeks now, and we're still getting to know each other. So far, it's great!

The great thing about this swift is that when you stop winding, it stops unwinding. This solves all sorts of tangle issues I was having with other swifts.
I recommend putting it on a table that is the full width of the swift, if I put it on a coffee table and use a little too much force it sometimes becomes unstable.
The instructions could be more detailed, especially in regards to how to rewind skeins. I tend to use a slipknot to attach the other end of my yarn to the long dowel so that it doesn't come loose.

I use this swift for my handspun wools as well as for commercial yarns. I like the way it assembles easily and also comes apart to store in a relatively small bag. It is well balanced and easy to use. The workmanship is excellent with no rough edges.

This item is so easy to work with and will last a long time. Will take a beating. Then it breaks down for easy storage.

I'm hopeless at d.i.y. assembly, but found your instructions easy to follow, & managed to put it together without help. Unable to use video directions because computer is almost as old as I am and doesn't have facilities required. Stayed up most of the night converting all my skeins into balls. Knitting as fast as I can so that I can get some more skeins & use it again. Love it.

I love this swift! Very convenient and smooth to use. The only thing I wish was different is that the screws on my particular swift are on the sides, rather than on the bottoms, as shown in the video. This may have been a one-time oversight, and it's easily overcome by making sure the swift spins clockwise. If it weren't for that, I'd happily give it a 5-star rating.

I love this swift! It makes winding balls so easy! Sometimes I unwind my balls of yarn on purpose just to get to use this! Its really easy to use, you just slide your skein of yarn on, attach the yarn to the winder and wind away! It's so fun! This is well constructed and worth every penny. The instructions were easy to read and understand. I would highly recommend this swift!

After looking at many swift's on the internet, I chose this one and I am really pleased with it's performance. It is easy to assemble and can be stored in a small space. It has handled many different sizes and types of skeins. The instructions say it can also be used as a skeiner but it isn't as easy to use for that purpose.

The Super swift device for feeding yard to be wound into a ball worked smoothly, provided that one was careful to follow the instructions that came with it. It is so simple to use and it functioned so well. Also, it is easy to break down for storage into a small size.

Terrific product, easy to assemble and breakdown. The YouTube demo was really helpful. When I received the swift, some small parts were missing. [...]. Impressive customer service. And this was my first time doing business with Paradise Fibers.

I love this swift. It works with short and long skeins. The wood did expand a little because I stored it in the basement, but once I brought it upstairs it went back to normal.

I use this product to help me re-wind yarn. It works best with hanks. I find it good to have around because you can buy hanks on-line and not have to worry about where you can go to get the skeins "caked."

It sets up quickly and spins smoothly. Very well-balanced. I like the fact that I don't have to anchor it to a table to use it. It breaks down into a small amount of space which is always a plus. The muslin bag sounds like a useful upgrade.

I've been looking to buy a yarn swift for awhile and I'm glad I purchased this one. I like the easy storage, easy set up and it works like a dream.

have already skeined and rewound 5 balls of mohair.making the skeins a
certain size so I could count the rounds and get the yardage remaining on
the yarn. So much easier than using my warping board.Thanks for a great

I just received my Super Swift II yesterday and I cannot say enough good things about it!!

I stumbled across the Super Swift II and was immediately sold after watching the video. I love how easy it is to put together, I love that I don't have to hold the yarn for tension, I love that it comes with a bag for convient storage, and especially love that it stops once I stop winding. Also, I love the quality of the swift for the price! It is something that will certainly last well into my knitting years.

this is the bomb. You don't have to hold the yarn to get the right tension and its easy to put together and take a part.
