Lantern Moon Destiny Circular Knitting Needles

After 20 years of doing other crafts I've picked up knitting again. Things have sure changed in the world of needles over that period of time. This past month I've experimented with 6 or 7 brands of circular needles - wood ones and metal ones. I'm loving circular needles and now realize that I'd be better off if I just by a connecting set. But which one - metal or wood and which brand? Wow. These needles are so silky smooth. And unlike some I've tried, the cord swivels. I'm definitely going to buy the connecting set....but a bummer as I just noticed they are now on back order. Apparently others have figured out how good these needles are.

I have used Lantern Moon circular needles (and straight needles) for years and LOVE them. They are so much more expensive than the Bamboo ones you can buy inexpensively in Michaels with a coupon, but I have always considered them an investment. The LM needles are consistently smooth as silk and my knitting just glides on the needles. The finish is just lovely and they feel wonderful in my hands. The problem with these is that the size 13 and 15 I received from you are, unlike any of the LM circular needles I have gotten elsewhere like stubs- maybe 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. Even knitting a narrow scarf, if you want most of the work to remain on the needle, it is impossible. I am using bamboo/silk yarn and don't want any "catches' on the joint (I know the joints are excellent compared to any others I've used). But still the stitches hang up just a little, enough to slow me down and annoy me. The picture on your website did not show that the needles would be so short. I have tried and tried to get used to them and it is virtually impossible.So I've spent over $50 for two sets of needles- my "luxury" item which I cannot use. What a waste. I am very disappointed and I am hopeful that Paradise Fibers will take care of the situation. Otherwise I am one dissatisfied customer with an empty wallet.

My first needles from Lantern Moon were a gift from my daughter. Yes, she knits. And I wasn't sure how I would like the new needles. I am used to knitting with bamboo needles and I love them. At least I thought I did. But they were a gift and so I tried them out using some linen yarn that was in my stash. Loved them. And the are so beautiful! The wood is smooth and the points are beautifully tapered.
So I just bought more in more sizes!
One problem I have with circular needles is the cable gets tangled when I knit a flat piece like a cardigan. With these needles I do not have that problem.

They are smooth, have nicely tapered points that are perfect for working with short rows, and the cable doesn't tangle like other needles.
My daughter turned me on to this brand. she sent me three circular needles as a birthday gift. I wasn't sure I would like them because they are so different from the bamboo needles I usually knit with.
I have to admit, I am hooked.

I have been a knitter for many years and have used a number of different brands over those years. Lantern Moon needles (and their other products) have been my favorites for the past ten years. I use the straight and circular wooden needles and they are absolutely delicious to work with. The rosewood and ebony wood are my favorites - the feel on my (now arthritic) fingers is smooth and a joy to feel and I just want to keep on knitting. I have met the owners of LM, Joel and Sharon Woodcock, and they are committed to sustaining the independence and dignity of the Vietnamese people who make these products. The quality of all their products is first class.

I hesitated to spend the money for these, but my Mom got me some for my birthday and I am now addicted! I am going to gradually replace all of my circulars with the Lantern Moon Rosewoods. So very pleased with them:)

These are a pleasure to work with! The wood feels great in your hands, and I absolutely LOVE the swivel on the join! I have had some slight catching at the join when using lace-weight yarns, but not for thicker yarns. I have not found any wooden circulars that can surpass these for quality!

These needles feel like they belong in a museum. They look GREAT. The quality is good; good joins and smooth point. I travel a lot though, and the wood got warn out. Also, they were so nice (and pricy) that I kept them for "home use" so I don't loose them. They are very slow needles, good for fancy work.

I just ordered my first set of needles about a week or so ago. I am so in love with Lantern Moon. I've tried other needles, but these are just beautifully made. They knit so smooth and the yarn glides off without tugging. They also offer sizes that other brands do not make. So I was really happy to find them. I will definately buying more to replace my other, "not so great" needles. Thank you.

Couldn't wait to get started knitting

These needles are very smooth, slippery even, a little too much for me unless I'm working lace, but then the tips are not tapered enough. They are still good buy. I prefer rosewood to ebony because rosewood ones are so gorgeous. Ebony, combining with the slippery finish, gives me a slight plastic feel, but I do know ebony is supposed to be much more durable than rosewood.

Lantern Moon Rosewood Circular, US size 11, 16 inch from tip to tip! Hard to find, this is an excellent needle to work with. I called Paradise Fibers first, to be sure I was getting a "16-inch from tip to tip" circular; the woman I spoke with measured the product while I waited, so that when I placed my order, I was confident that I would receive the product I need. Great customer service and great product.

I'll start by announcing my bias against circular needles - there always seems to be some catch at the joins. These needles are lovely and smooth, but the join is abrupt and I find that I have to stop knitting in order to wiggle stitches up over then join and onto the needle. No worse than other circular needles I've used, but irritating enough that I won't use them unless absolutely necessary. I'd rather carry the weight of stitches on longer straight needles.

I just recently started using Destiny circular needles. It was because I'd fallen in love with Lantern Moon's straight needles for lace knitting with real lace weight yarn. I've used lots of others, including some much more expensive than the Destinys, but these simply seem to work the best. The needles are slippery enough for stitches to slide easily, but not so much that they slide off. They feel great in the hands. The points are just right for fine lace. And for the first time, I'm really enjoying knitting with the very fine yarns.

I knit almost exclusively with straight wooden needles because of their warmth and the organic nature of the process, and wasn't pleased with the available bamboo circular needles. Lantern Moon ebony circular needles are so smooth and quiet to work with -- they are the only circular needles I use.

The needles feel very good in the hand and are smooth, but the join from the cable is a little rough, also I would prefer a little sharper point on the ends. They do feel warm and nice and the yarn slides nicely, just that little speed bump from cable to needle.

These needles are the best for super performance -- smooth and easy to knit with...very lightweight, but yet strong enough to last. I have these needles in many sizes and use the circulars even for straight knitting.

My husband bought me the entire set of 26" Destiny needles for my birthday and I can honestly say this has been the best birthday present I have ever gotten! As the other reviewers have stated, they swivel and the cables are a nice weight and don't kink. But most of all the feel of needle against needle is almost sensual! I have found myself knitting more and more, just because they are enjoyable! The silky but matte surface finish is perfect. My hands would tire with all the other needles - and I've tried them all. I find my hands don't tire and I feel good after a long session of knitting. These are expensive, but well worth the money. I plan on happy knitting the rest of my life with these babies. As a matter of fact, my husband is planning to buy me the different size sets - one a year, until I have them all.

I've tried them ALL... the coveted Colonial Circs, the Holz and Stein (aka Noble) circs, Susanne's circs and Pony circs (rosewood AND ebony, all) and LOVE LOVE LOVE Lantern Moon Destiny circs!
The joins are perfect. The cords unkink immediately AND, best of all, for a carpel tunnel sufferer, they SWIVEL!
