Grey Norwegian Wool Top High Quality 56ct Top

Nice fiber to learn with. The long staple length is much easier for a beginner and this wool is not slick like some others. The end yarn is a bit scratchy. But a Very pleasant experinence.

Long staples are forgiving. Was able to make a huge ball and then I combo with another yarn

The Norwegian Grey was just gorgeous! I loved the color right away and the long fibers will make it easier for beginners to spin.

Very soft for Norwegian wool and very clean. The grey is a beautiful bluey grey and the top is wonderfully prepared.

I bought this to practice spinning. I have been spinning my Samoyed dog fur which is very soft, fluffy and easy to spin. Wool seems more difficult for me to spin as it is not as fluffy. I still want to get good at spinning wool so this was a great way to practice without sN a lot of money. I'll buy the more expensive fiber after I've practiced. I love the heathered grey color of this wool.

I used this fiber to learn how to spin on my Ashford wheel. The length of the fibers--they're SUPER long--made it easy to spin with, though I found the end result to be scratchy. It was very easy to spin...the fibers seemed to just pull themselves towards my spinning wheel, breaks in roving were very easily repaired, and the resulting woolen spun was nice and airy. The fiber was almost entirely free of vegetable matter and only smelled a little bit "sheepy." However, I wouldn't want to use the resulting yarn on any garment that must be worn right next to the skin...it's just too scratchy.

I bought 40 ounces of this top for a handspun handwoven blanket I was making. I was using several different colors of handspun and wanted a lot of gray to mix in as stripes. This top was ideal. The price was right, and the top was very smooth and soft. It spun very easily on a heavy drop spindle (I spun aran-weight singles). The top was well organized-- it wasn't compressed too much, but the rope of top held together and was easy to sort and weigh out. I am very happy with this top and how it spun and looks in my blanket. (The only bad thing has to do with my novice spinning. Were I to use this top--really, any fiber-- in a handspun woven blanket, I'd do a 2 ply at least. I am finding that the thick singles are shedding a bit after a long winter's wear. However let me stress that this complaint is a reflection of my spinning, NOT of the product).

The fibers/hairs are SO long, it's not uncommon to have some over 8.25 in (20.5 cm) long! It has made some wonderful doll hair. Also great for needle felting. I haven't tried wet felting yet.
