The Glimakra Ideal Loom, 70 or 100 cm width is available as a countermarch or counterbalance. (We offer both but the Counterbalance is shown here.)
The Glimakra Ideal is a sturdy, versatile loom. It is well proportioned, but it takes up less space than the Standard loom. It has all the advantages of Swedish looms; the hanging beater for easy beating, light treadling, good height for comfort and it will produce beautiful woven items from sheer fabrics to rugs.
The Countermarch comes stock with 8 shafts and 8 treadles. The countermarch tie up is a good choice if you want to have more than four shafts. The counterbalance however; is easier to tie up when you want to weave with just four shafts. The Ideal loom can also be fitted with a drawloom, a single unit harness or a shaft drawloom with up to 50 shafts This loom has up to 100cm, 39+ inches weaving width, hanging beater, wedges for stability, large warp and cloth beams and large ratchet wheels for easy and exacting tensioning. The loom has a 49" total width and the beater measures 46 1/2" wide. It weighs approx. 142 pounds
It comes with (1) boat shuttle, (1) copy of the book "Learning to Warp your Loom", an adjustable bench, 1,000 Texsolv heddles, complete Texsolv tie up kit, two lease sticks, two shaft holders, four rubber feet and 24 warp beam sticks.
The smaller Ideal has a 70 centimeters (27") weaving width, 38" frame width, weight: 122 pounds.
The Ideal frame is 40" deep. The floor space required is a little more than this as the bench and the warp beam extend some inches beyond the frame. The width of the loom is a little more than the frame width as the beater and the ratchet wheels extend beyond the frame. The frame height is 4' 10" with the top of the beater extending the height to 5' 1". The warp and cloth beams are 9" in circumference. The breast beam is 2 1/4" x 1 5/8" and is 34" off the floor. The frame uprights are 1 5/8" x 3 1/2".
