If you have your own animals, you like to buy fleeces and process them or you just like combing fibers to create your own custom blends then these tools are a necessity. We've chosen the David Custom Triple Drum Carder because it is in a class of it's own. The 3 drums allow much faster and efficient processing. The 3 Drum design will help get rid of the bits of dust, dirt and other powdery debris that you may have missed when you combed the fiber. Basically it transfers the fibers from drum to drum every time straightening and opening up the tighter pockets you couldn't open with the combs. If your fiber has a lot of vegetation you'll want to make sure run it through your wool combs first till most of the veg is gone. Carding will NOT clean your fleece. This carder produces an 8x22 inch bat which you can spin from easily by tearing off strips. Make sure to get a set of our Wool Combs to help open up the fibers and get rid of some of the vegetation. Our fiber processing package is your comprehensive personal small scale wool processing solution!
But which Drum carder is right for me? If you mainly will be processing finer fibers like Merino, Cashmere, Baby Suri or other exotic fine fibers get the Fine Carder. If you will mainly be processing Suffolk, Corriedale or Romney you'll want the Coarse Carder. There is no one carder to rule them all unfortunately, to do the best job you'll want to get the right carder for the fiber you are working with.
Paradise Fibers Wool Combs: The Wool Combs when used correctly can help sort out various staple length as well as get rid of unwanted debris vegetation that is trapped in the fibers.
Drum Carder Cleaning Brush: This is a great little brush to clean the nooks and crannies of your drum carder. This is a must have to clean your carder properly.
Unicorn Power Scour: Power Scour is a must for washing your fleeces safely. In addition to washing it reduces mats and tangles, eliminates ordors and stains, is biodegradeable and you can use it on a wide range of different fibers.
