Baby Camel Down Natural Brown

A previous reviewer mentioned combining with chiengora so I thought I would do the same. It does add the softness and I love the color. Now, I have too many favorite fibers because every one that i find, I love :) This one is certainly no exception.

I purchased 24 ounces and am having it blended into a couple CVM/Romeldale fleeces and it will be just fantastic!!!! The softness of both of these fibers are a fine compliment to each other. I have also, blended this with angora and achieved very good results.

This is simply lovely to work with, one of my favorites for spinning! I also blended it with some chiengora for a really nice result. It came out so very soft and pretty. I can't wait to knit some of it up - my next project! Of course I may order a bit more of this to keep on hand.

I am a needle felter. This down can be punched down and be very compact. It can be smoothed out with a fine needle and stays put as a fluffy top coat. I REALLY love this down and I am glad I purchased it. I almost passed it up.

I can't wait to stock up on this. This is some of the softest stuff I have felt. I am definately going to order more of this. I am going to take the advice and wait to spin this until I recieve my light weight spindle in the mail. The color matched the picture perfectly.

There are a few fibers that I tend to overstock on, just in case I can't find them in the future when I need them for a project, and baby camel is one of them. This down is soft and spring to the touch, spins very strong and thin (a lot like yak), and smells heavenly. Out of all of the camelid fibers (alpaca, llama, etc.) I think I like baby camel the best--it's almost indistinguishable from vicuna (sp?) but a fraction of the cost; it's softer than llama and easier to spin than alpaca (which, I think, says something, as most beginners can handle spinning alpaca just fine!). I keep thinking I might dye some of this fiber for a project someday, but the natural colors are so beautiful I just can't bring myself to do it!

I found this fiber to neither be in sliver nor roving form but more like a batt, but not quite. This isn't a complaint. If one doesn't mind carding or combing, this makes camel down more affordable. I merely don't recall the mention of this so thought it a worthy comment. The staple is about 2 inces or less. The microcount feels to be low, along the line of baby alpaca. (And why don't they call a baby alpaca a cria like they call a baby mohair goat kid mohair?)

This is by far the softest camel down I have ever spun with. Of course since it is so luxurious I had to stretch it out by blending it with Texas cashmere that I had dyed naturally. Definitely yummy.

Internetspeak aside, this is a nice, comfortable fiber, and I'm a beginner spinner. I'm thinking about using some for thrumming a hat for my significant other, as baby camel is nice to wear directly against the skin.

Finally used it with my top whorl spindle last night, and couldn't stop spinning it! While you certainly could card it, blend it, or do other forms of processing, it was so easy to spin a nice woolen-type single straight from the fluff. It was super soft & has a nice pretty natural color, with no neps or VM. It has a very short staple, between 1/2-1 inch, as most down fibers do, but with a lightweight spindle that can go fast, you won't have any trouble. To spin it on a wheel, you will probably need a higher ratio (smaller/faster whorl) and a very light takeup. Will absolutely buy this again!

This fiber is lovely. Yes, the staple is shorter than many yet easy to spin and with practice have achieved a nice even single. I love the sheen and how very clean the camel down is. Have tried other companies and what Paradise Fiber offers is the best. It is not overly processed which makes it that much softer. Thanks Paradise.

This was one of the very first fibers I spun. I wasn't aware that it was a luxury fiber or even what that meant. It spun evenly, easily and thin without much effort. I would definitely get more to spin and have enough for a project.

What I consider to be an ultra fiber, Baby Camel Down is uber soft, fluffy, and an absolute joy to spin! I've been blending with tussah silk top, and the combination is outstanding. The resulting yarn is luxurious and as soft as some cashmere I have. A little goes a very long way when blending.
Does have a shorter staple length though. Might be a challenge for a beginning spinner.

I was surprised at how easy it was to spin up this down on a top whorl drop spindle, considering I'm still fairly new at spinning. Very easy to spin at a light/fingering weight. Will definitely be ordering some more, as it plies wonderfully with the baby camel top roving.
