I ordered 4 pounds of this during the last sale. I really like the way it takes dye. It's really clean and soft and spins up incredibly. Now if I could just decide what color to dye it, I would be set for the next few weeks.

This was the fiber that I just learned to spin with + it was amazing. I bought 4lbs + wish I'de gotten more.

Last nite I dyed some + it turned out beautifully..... sucked the dye right up!!! Tonite I spun up one strip of that dye batch + I'm so pleased with the fine singles on the bobbin. Almost no VM/ gorgeous colors.

The first skein I spun plain white + it's actually usable yarn.... once I stop petting it!!! Would definately recommend it for another beginning spinner. Much softer yarn than I anticipated too.

Clean, soft, takes dye very easily and nicely. I use it for wet felting and it makes a nice study felt. Morino is softer, and quicker to felt, but this is a hardier wool that can take more rubbing.

It’s a treasure! I was surprised by the softness of this fiber. This is the softest Shetland I have ever tried. It came in nice and clean, has a nice luster to it. It takes the dye perfectly. I bought this one sale for $16. I was a little nervous for that price it wouldn't be very good but it is so soft and takes dye so quickly. It spins so nicely. Add to that the large quantity and this item is perfection!

I've only been spinning for about a year and am trying as many different fibers as I can. I was under the false impression that Shetland is a coarser wool..I like to spin merino..but I found this a joy to spin and not coarse at all. nice staple length and needed no pre-drafting. I purchased 3 lbs. enough to make a sweater after spinning, I am in the process of dying . The fiber was soft like some of the BFL i have at the house and felt good to the touch.. Though i am stil fairly new at this I fould this to be soft and take the dye easily. I am looking forward to spinning it up and to get knitting. Very good price the material was clean , soft and came very quickly.

I ordered this - knowing that Shetland wool is usually not the softest wool to work with. It spins wonderfully and is softer than Shetland that I've gotten from other suppliers.

This fiber is perfect for new spinners. It has a good staple length, spins easily and has a great hand feel. For the price, you can't beat this! I am currently using it in teaching. One student last week couldn't believe how fast she learned to spin thin on her Spindle almost immediately!

For price alone, this roving is an amazing deal. Add to that the fact that it is such a versatile and easy to spin wool, and you can't lose. I've spun other Shetland before, and it is lovely wool to work with - this is by far the softest Shetland I've come across. I am NOT a spinner -- I needlefelt so I was a bit nervous ordering such a large quantity (you don't need much roving to needle felt ! ). I thought I wanted to try wet felting though so I took a chance and ordered this. As all the other reviews said, the quality is wonderful and the color is beautiful in its natural state. I can tell just from touching it that it will needlefelt perfectly and from what everyone else says, it takes dye beautifully! So...add to its qualities that YES, it wet felts perfectly -- my first wet felting projects were quick, fun and very successful. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this item!! I LOVE this fiber! Just got it a couple of days ago, and it is soooo super squishy and soft and smells wonderful! ( I know crazy right?) I'm looking forward to dyeing some of it soon with natural dyes but been having a fun time spinning. This roving is wonderful value for your money. It is clean, very soft and spins like a dream. I have also used this for felting and had very good results. It takes dye well. I would recommend that new spinners try this as it is so easy to work with unlike some of the more processed roving which can be a challenge for a new spinner. I mixed some of mine with silk to produce the softest fiber.

I have just started spinning this fiber and really enjoy it. I showed it to Jacey Boggs at a recent workshop and she said it is the softest shetland she has ever seen. What a recommendation!

Shetland fiber is great stuff. Strong, soft, springy, good staple length. It's wonderful to spin alone, or great to blend with BFL or Corriedale wools, for an even softer stronger yarn. I am anxious to also try it with Alpaca. I highly recommend this Shetland fiber.

This fiber is great and you can't beat the price. I don't usually like to dye beautiful white or cream fiber because it seems like it is beautiful the way it is, but since this fiber was such a good price I am thinking of dying it a beautiful sky blue. I am never sure what I am going to make when I buy fiber and I often spin it not knowing exactly what I am going to make, but somehow it goes to good use either way. My friends alway treasure whatever I make them knowing I also spun the yarn.

This is a great Shetland top (not roving!). It is a nice creamy white and should take dye very well.

I haven't spun roving for a while. I bought a five and half pound merino fleece last year and have been working on that all year. But I just could not pass up this great buy. You don't often see nice roving for $14 a pound!! The first wool I every "tried" to spin was a brown Shetland, this however, is the first white Shetland and so far I really like it. It has a different feel than the Merino but I think it will make a lovely sweater after I paint dye it. Thank you Paradise Fibers for this great deal. I was happily surprised by the softness of this lovely fiber. Shetland isn't a fiber I usually think to buy, but this stuff has changed my mind. It's a beautiful, creamy white color on its own, and it takes dye very well. I only wish I'd bought more!

I am a new spinner and have little experience, but this fiber is simply the best. Its so soft and easy to work with. I'm using a Louet S75 and am stopping only to post this review. This fiber told me it wanted to be lace weight so that's what is flowing through my fingers. I highly recommend trying it. I am ordering more before its gone!

I'm a new spinner and bought 2 lbs of this beautiful fiber. I am back for more. At this price, I can't afford NOT to buy it. I'm thinking a beautiful woven blanket. (And yes, I still need to learn to weave also!) It is soft and smooth and slips through my fingers so sweetly.

I am really pleased with the soft feel of this wool. It is easy to spin, and makes a nice knitting or crochet wool, as well as a strong warp. I aimed for sportweight 2 ply. You can get a nice zen-mood going with this stuff since it behaves well.

This roving is not good to start a needle felt project but can be used as a top coat as long as you use a very fine needle to finish the poject. I am looking forward to trying some natural dye products with it. I also make some angles that are not heavily needle felted and this wool will be great for the billowy skirts!

Just received my 5 pounds of this Shetland spinning fiber.. It is absolutely beautiful! And soooo soft and white! I have never been disappointed with any fiber ordered from Paradis Fibers; nor any accessories either. I have recommended your company to all my spinning and knitting friends, especially the bloggers.

This is the best spinning fiber I have found thus far in my spinning career. It is so easy to spin; the fiber doesn't slip out of your hands. It takes dye beautifully; sucking up all of the dye[leaving no waste]. I have even used a lot of natural dyes; presently, bamboo leaves and stems from the garden which produces a rich avacado color. At this price, it is best to stock up. I just wolfed through 4 bags making a sweater, gloves, cowl, hat etc. after making a three ply yarn. I ordered 4 more bags, and am back today ordering 4 more as I saw this same fiber for over twice the price on another web site. From beginner to advanced spinner you can't go wrong with this fiber. PS. It is soft, and will keep you nice and warm. We have had lots of bone chilling fog with low temps recently. I was so glad that I had finally made something for myself. i just received my Shetland in the mail today. I am surprised at how soft it is. I am learning how to spin and I have lots of llama wool to wash and card but with this price, I couldnt turn it down. I am back on to order 2 more pounds so I can dye some of it. I am thinking slippers for Christmas presents next year for everyone!! So I have to start now!! Happy spinning!

I debated a long time over buying this fiber. Just seemed to good to be true. But when it came, I was delighted with the sheen, feel and spring of the fiber. This is a great wool at a fantastic price. super easy to spin, nice and soft and springy, with enough stretchiness that it works great for tight-fitting hats and mittens. Takes dye wonderfully, great to blend with another fiber such a bamboo for a little color contract when dying.

This roving is incredibly soft and a wonderful bright ecru color. I needle felt and do not spin or weave, but It looks like it will take color so well and I can't wait to dye it!! Nice quality for the money1

I ordered this fiber to spin some aran-weight yarn for a sweater, and since I was used to spinning Merino, was concerned it wouldn't be as soft as I am accustomed to. I need not have worried. It feels great to spin and think it will feel just as good to wear.

I purchased this 1 lb. bag for $14 when it was on sale. I shared it with my fiber guild and everybody who tried it loved it. It is a perfect fiber for beginning spinners, both on wheel and spindle. It's not the softest, but not scratchy either. It has pretty sheen to it.

I recently ordered this fiber while it was on sale for $14 per lb. I am just a beginner and thought that if I ordered 2 lbs it would be enough to get the hang of spinning. I have only used a little so far but I can already tell that I made a good choice. It is spinning beautifully on my drop spindle and I am already making plans for wheel. I can hardly wait to see how much I end up with and what I can crochet it into.

My eventual goal is to be able to spin and work with Great Pyrenees fur and make something for my father from his dog. This fiber is very close to the texture and quality of fur from our dog and I expect it will prepare me very well for my future project.

I have never been able to spin combed top so was a little leary about getting this (I also got the marino combed top). With practise I am spinning this with no problems at all. I pulled off about 12 inches and then split that in half. I pre-drafted and it spun up beautifully! I had problems with the marino but I ended up drafting it with the Shetland and I had less problems.

This wool is great. It is nice and soft, and thick. It is a pleasure to spin and the price is awesome. It has a great natural unbleached slightly off-white color. I am using it in the afghan I am making, and find that the natural white is perfect because if it were any whiter it would be too bright.

Great price. I'm a novice spinner so it's nice to work with fiber that will spin so well. I'm planning to dye it with food coloring and knit a lace shawl. I will also use this to knit a scarf on my knitting machine. If I have enough left over then I'll knit a tamm and matching glittens.

I raise shetlands and have a lot of colors, but white is hard to come by, I find. I generally lilke to spin white because I knit lace christening gowns from the yarn. This will make a fine gown or shawl.

I'm a beginner spinner so I don't have a lot of experience to compare but I found this wool easy to dye. I tried my hand at Kool Aid dying and I'm pleased with the results. The wool seemed a little fuzzy after dyeing but it pre-drafted easily and I'm having no trouble spinning it.

I expect it to do well for shawls, and that's what I'm spinning it for now. I will let you know how well it takes dye and whether or not it's soft enough for shawls when I have completed my project.

I bought it on sale. Excellent value. It spins into a nice soft and springy yarn. I'm spinning it fine (lace weight) to make a Faroese shawl. It is quite easy to spin as well. I'm considering whether or not to dye it, because the off-white is quite pleasing.

I bought this yarn to dye and spin for a Fair Isle sweater. It spins beautifully and my sweater is now ready for the steeks. You can't do steeks without Shetland fiber, I have been told.

I so love spinning this fiber. I am a new spinner, and have found the long well structured fibers to be easy and smooth to draft. It wants to be a sport weight 2 ply which is perfect for me. Once washed, thwacked and dried its springy and so luminous and lustered it practically glows. Only wishing I had purchased more while the sale was active.

Very soft for shetland. Great for spinning yarn for weaving. Makes great woven decorative items. Works great for dying with Kool aid. I would recommend this fiber off beginner spinners. Nice long staple.

I bought this fiber last time it was on special, and I like it very well. It is easy spin, even for a novice like myself. I have found some stray VM, but not enough lower my rating. It's easy enough to pick out.

I was able to spin this on my Lendrum Spinning wheel for a very fine 2 ply lace to a 3ply fingerling weight yarn. I love how easy it spins as well as the color. Its nice to be able to spin a yarn from this heritage breed. Also great to use to knit traditional fair isle garments. Because this fiber is in a combed top spinners will delight in the effortless manner it drafts on the bobbin.

I'm still spinning my last order (I got A LOT and I suggest that you the same) but if you spin I don't know if you can have enough of this stuff. I intend to dye it and it looks like it will take dye well. Also, I think it would be great to blend with cashmere or a softer, less stable fiber like silk. Haven't spun it yet, but it seems very nice. It's pretty soft compared to your "typical" Shetland, although I have gotten slightly softer Shetland before.
