Ashland Bay Portuguese Wool Top Spinning Fiber 1lb Bag

Great for a beginner! Great work horse roving! I'd recommend it for projects like hats, mitts, things that need to hold up! Again, I can't stress what a great fiber this is for beginners. Easy, inexpensive, but not cheap at all, and so forgiving!

I am a new spinner and I was looking for a fiber that I would not feel guilty about making mistakes on. This is the perfect fiber for just this purpose. It is the best value price-wise. It is relatively soft and very clingy which is really helpful for an unskilled spinner such as myself. I would recommend this to all beginners looking for a starter fiber.

I bought this fiber in order to try out a new kick spindle. I simply wanted a relatively inexpensive fiber in a relatively large amount to give the spindle a good test.
Wow! The yarn I'm spinning with this fiber is wonderful!
This roving draws very well. It also blends well with other fibers and is producing an excellent worsted style yarn for me.

I use this fiber for my spinning practice to test ratios, drafting methods, etc. It's perfect given its price point.

I was amazed by how soft this fiber was. Definitely will be buying more of this once I run out. (Which may take a while because 1lbs is a lot)

This fiber is a good basic fiber. not very white though and somewhat coarse. I wet felt soap and the finished product was pilled and not smooth. I find it works fine for a base coat, but not soft enough for next to skin.

It arrived really soon. I was very excited to see so much fiber that I got for such a good deal. I'm having a blast spinning it, I find it spins really well with long draw. Great product at a great deal.

I bought this to use for wet felting my handmade soaps. I didn't realize how huge a pound of wool was! Does have a bit of sheep smell, but not over powering and I found one tiny piece of veggie matter, nothing that you can't pick out. I can't wait to see how this felts soap. I love the texture of this fiber. It has a soft feel but is also fluffy. It feels like marshmellows after being spun. Love it. That's why I keep coming back for more.

This is one of my favorites, so far. It wet felts easily. I use for dyer balls and my customers love them, this wool is the best. Paradise fibers has been a great company to do business with, A-Plus all around. Will be ordering more wool .....

A beautiful white and very soft. I ordered this for wet felting and have been more than pleased with the results. Maybe I was just lucky, but the lb I ordered does not have the veggie material described in a couple of other reviews. I added a thin layer of this over a color for a scarf and the end product is lovely. I would most definitely buy this again!

I chose this fiber to try my first foray into dying wool top because of the price, but now I'm planning a sweater spin! The wool took the dye beautifully and it spins up very easily.

Great price for a great felting fiber! I have been using the Portuguese Wool Top for making up my dryer balls and they needle felt together quickly and easily. There is a bit of veggie matter but it is easily pulled out while working with it. It does have a "sheepish" smell but since I but my dryer balls through at least one wash and dry cycle, it is inconsequential for my final product. I would buy this again!

I'm a new spinner and I bought this fiber to play around with Kool-Aid crockpot dying. I dyed up a batch with blue, pink, green and red. The fiber took the color perfectly. I would highly recommend the fibers from Paradise Fibers. Every thing I have purchased from them has been spot on.

I was looking for a fiber that could easily be spun into a bulky yarn and then take dye well. The Portuguese wool showed up in my fiber club box and after spinning a few bobbins I ordered two pounds. I have a good supply of other "white" roving and top (romney, shetland) but this was a breeze to spin. The fiber quality and preparation are more than worth the price.
