Ashland Bay Blue Faced Leicester Top Undyed Fiber

I love the way this fiber feels. I will be dying it and haven't chosen the colors yet but this is soft for a BFL and I"m really looking forward to working with it.

Came very quickly. Super soft and very easy to spin. Had a couple bits of dirt here and there, but it was easily spotted and removed. Finished product is very nice, will definitely order again.

Looking forward to dyeing for the first time... I love BFL for spinning.

I am new to spinning and this was my first time ever ordering roving. I order a 1lb bag and it has been great so far! I am using a drop spindle still working on the bag! I will definately reorder and have even recommended it to other ladies in my drop spindle class-Thanks!

This wool is easy to spin, with beautiful luster. It is a pleasure to spin. It makes a lovely 2-ply sport or worsted size knitting yarn that feels soft. Once plyed, it puffs up a bit and the yarn seems pretty even. It is strong enough for warp as well. Lovely results.

This fiber has a nice luxurious sheen to it and spins well. I have also used it for some of my painted rovings and it take the dye beautifully and spins well. I am also using this fiber for teaching beginners to drop spin.

I got this fiber in my monthly fiber club shipment. This is some of the best processed fiber out there. It takes dye wonderfully, spins perfectly, and is very soft. Perfect for blending as well, it acts as a good "base" for other add ins, like silk or bamboo or even mohair.

I purchased this along with 4oz of Ashford Corriedale undyed, carded wool, and they're both excellent to learn spinning. It has long staple length but easy to spin. The BFL has a more lustrous sheen to it than the Corriedale, and has less flyaway fiber on the singles, which I think is due to the different prep (the Corrie is carded, the BFL is combed)

A super soft roving. I washed it in prep for dyeing and it bloomed afterwards; it seemed like the fiber doubled in size, but it wasn't compacted beforehand. Fun to spin (I love the long wools). The three-ply finished yarn was bouncy, well balanced, round, with wonderful stitch definition. I would eventually like to spin enough for a sweater fro this BFL.

What lovely, soft fiber! I received mine yesterday, and I just had to spin a little to see how it would look...how lovely! Now I need to decide if I want to leave it it's natural color, or dye it.

I bought several pounds for a large project. The fibers are beautifully cleaned. The color is a soft creamy white. It has been a pleasure to spin and the finished result has been a shimmery, soft, smooth yarn.

I haven't used this fiber before, but it's very soft and I think it will be a pleasant change from Merino.

all the fibers look great, arrived quickly and are nicely packaged. The only annoyance was that the packages were only labeled with stock numbers. I had to get out the Sharpie to write the product name. A label would be great. That said, you have amazing products and I'll buy from you again! i haven't used the product yet, but I guess it looks great...it's Ashland Bay, so hard to go wrong.

The fiber itself is super smooth and fluffy, but the only issue I had when dyeing it was where the fiber would separate in places. To fix this, be sure to handle carefully and always dye bumps separately to prevent tangling.

As a novice spinner, I found this roving to be a great one to start with.

Very pleased with the quality of this roving. Wanted to wait until I was sure I could spin it well, But then I jumped in and found it spins up so beautifully and easily either woolen or worsted- even for a beginner. Can't wait to have enough spun to make yarn and dye it up for a project.

I dye the roving with multiple colors (acid dyes). When it is ready I layout the wool for welt felting arranging or blending colors to my taste. In the dyeing process you can pre-felt the Blue Faced Leicester if you are careful.
Dyed roving leftover is spun. The yarn may be spun or crocheted to create trim or accessories that are a perfect color match.

I bought enough to spin a sweater and make a ton of socks, maybe a matching hat and scarf for the sweater. It will take a while to finish spinning it, but I can tell this is quality stash.

I used this as a "learn to spin" product. Very economical - while getting a lovely product. Easy to work with.

Wonderful and soft, it fluffs out almost as soon as you take it out of the bag! I love the wavy crimp of the fiber and the long staple. When it is all spun up it really shines, kind of like silk. I really enjoyed working with it, it takes dye very nicely and looks beautiful. I highly recommend it for socks as the longer staple keeps the yarn strong and resistant to wear.

This is some of the fluffiest BFL I've worked with! Takes dye beautifully and the fiber is quite soft with subtle luster! Excellent for both beginning and advanced spinners as it drafts easily. Highly recommended this Ashland Bay BFL for a variety of knitted/crocheted garments!

This was one of the first fibers I bought to spin on a spindle. I found it very easy to draft and made a great pair of socks that hold their shape well. I dyed the yarn with kool-aid and the color is holding up well a year later as are the socks.

This fiber took dye very well and maintained its fluffiness even after dyeing (which leads me to believe it would be great for new dyers since it does not easily felt). The fiber itself has a nice crimp and results in a nice, bouncy yarn that maintains its shape. Drafts easily, but not so easily that it is too slippery.

My first time to dye a top, I was really nervous, but it took the dye like a dream, and didn't felt a bit! It fluffed back up too.

I'm very new to spindle spinning, and this fiber amazes me with its ease of use. With very little predrafting, I was able to spin an impressively uniform single ply. Very light in weight, nice off-white color, and it retains a lovely, faint "farm" scent, like walking through the barns at a county fair. Glad I bought this, will be back for more!
