Ashford Traveller Double Treadle Spinning Wheel

I have a rick reeves large wheel which I love but it is too heavy and big to take anywhere. I am going to get the ashford traveler for sure. The quality of ashford wheel you can depend on. I have spun on a traveler and I fell in love with it. I also love the double treadle.

I agonized over what spinning wheel to get for my first, and finally settled on the Ashford Traveller. I got the double treadle and have it set up in double drive and it is a great little wheel. I love the compact size along with the classic styling. It's very user friendly. I also really like the built-in Lazy Kate. I'm still fairly new to it, but haven't had any issues that have made me question my decision at all. The only thing I wish were different is for the bobbins to hold more yarn, but I've just ordered the jumbo sliding hook flyer and extra bobbins from Paradise Fibers (love their customer service!) so that should solve that problem. I would definitely recommend this wheel to other beginner spinners!

This is one of the first wheels I tried out and I loved it. It treadles easily, and the orifice was at the perfect height for me. With it's compact design it fit wonderfully into my little and crammed apartment. The built in lazy kate at the front of the wheel was super convenient and much easier to deal with then my shoebox. And even though there is nothing at the top for the pegs, the bobbins stay in place. The whorls give one a decent range of ratios, so one will not grow out of the wheel too quickly. Highly recommend this wheel for anyone that has limited space available.

This is an awesome wheel. It is very easy to put in the car and go. I am an avid sock knitter and the Traveler spins wonderful fingering weight yarn. I am a very happy spinner

This is the first wheel I practiced on and fell in love with it. It is a great wheel, it takes up little space and is portable. It looks beautiful just sitting in my studio, waiting for me to find the time to spin. I would recommend this wheel to anyone, especially a new spinner.

This was my first wheel and continues to be my go-to wheel. Nothing else satisfies. The double treadle is a must for smooth spinning, and the double drive gives me the right amount of tension control. It's easy to haul and takes up a tiny corner in my house. I will never give it up!

I wanted a more compact and faster spinnign wheel. I ordered the Ashford Travellor because of my years of good spinning with an Ashford Traditional wheel. The service was excellent, [...] and with the extra bonus of some beautiful wool to spin with. I am completely satisfied and would order from this company again!!!!! ....SOON

I got this wheel about a month ago to teach myself how to spin. It's just a wonderful wheel and the double treadle makes it so easy. It's a very versatile wheel with the three ratios. My wheel has the clear finish on it and it's just beautiful.

The wheel is also fantastic if you live in a small area. I just moved into a small apartment and it fits easily into my bedroom closet when it's not in use. It's also great if you travel a lot, it's called a Traveller for a reason!

The only problem that I have with it is that the "built-in lazy kate" isn't that great. I have an Ashford tensioned lazy kate to go with it.

I bought my Traveller single treadle on eBay used. I could tell by the spoke turnings that it was an older model. It came in pieces with clear instrructions one can download from the Ashford web site. It's very easy to assemble.

I'm a new spinner who started with a tiny wheel I won't identify. I love the Traveller and highly recommend it as a first wheel for beginning spinners. The vast majority of wheels sold are Ashfords, probably because they are capable, tough work horses, well made and affordable.

I purchased the double treadle kit from Paradise Fibers and received the kit within 3 to 4 days. DT action is energy efficient and promotes better, smoother spinning.

This is just a lovely wheel. I will probably, like the vast majority of spinners, buy another wheel/other wheels, but I don't ever see myself relinquishing my friendly Ashford Traveller. These are wheels that like spinners.
